well for the developer he got problems with unity since its the first time he use it , i think unity got no problems , its how good you are ; to use it probably .
Well, given the quite bad reputation Unity has in the regular gaming community (although there it's for different reasons), the devil seems to be in the details. When it comes to VNs the biggest issue is likely to be resource usage as it will likely retain the full render loop even if that's not necessary when displaying mostly static content. All Unity VNs I ran so far get my notebook to spin up the fans while the Ren'Py one's don't.

If you make use of the extra capabilities that Unity brings I think it's a reasonable choice but there is quite a bit of effort required to bring all the VN functionality that Ren'Py contains by default to Unity, so that extra effort better be worth it.

In the end it's all about the right tool for the right application.

Was it supposed to be today?
Last friday was the original target date given. Due to issues it got postponend to this week with no specific day given. So we're back to discussing the meaning of "next week" and "a couple more days".

I am holding off on this 'demo' of the dev's new project since I read it was a mess. frankly I am waiting to see what he/she comes up with next. I remember that while DoD was being made, it was the same shite with deadlines sometimes as it is now. It was always worth the wait back then. I hope it still is now.
But seriously Dev: BETTER communication, not more communication, not tighter promises about deadlines. Just say you are still working on parts of an update and leave it at that, no promises or vague hints about when it rolls out. Those are coffin nails.

Dev overhyped this renpy release and realized it wouldn't live up to the hype. It's going to feel as empty as the unity version did, with one extra button that shows a list of objectives. He may even try cloning parts of darksilvers UI like he did last time with DoD.

Bet along with the release he's going to have a promise-the-next-will-be-amazing apology message.

I will hold my judgement until its released, but given that this was the second update and there was nothing to do Im not going to argue with that.
