I guess I was wrong... I assumed by "surprise" it would be something significant like a few days, enough to garner that "surprise!"... alas I guess it might be just a few hours...

It's not about that. We would've been fine if he said next Sunday. He misguided us and gave a false hope that we might get an update earlier in this time of quarantine when we are just waiting for any release to pass our time. That is frustrating. I won't be surprised if he pushes his update to April to get patreon money for the next month.

Let me clue you in to software release dates. If the date is "this week", the means "the last day of the week, in the calendar of my choice (since in some places weeks go Sat-Fri, some places Fri->Thu, some places Sun->Sat and some places Mon->Sun), at 11:59 pm in the time zone of my choice.
NEVER expect a release to come before the last possible minute. If it does, great.
I didn't expect the update to be sooner. I only thought so because he said surprise otherwise I would've assumed that he'll release it on Sunday.
