Thanks for the people that said to change Windows region to English, it's the only thing that fixed the intro minigame for me. Hoping this gets fixed soon

You're welcome, and yes, it's already been fixed for the next update.

That's pleasing to hear. Do you have any information yet as to when we can expect this update?

After more than a year of forum break (real giving comes first) I am now back. And I finally wanted to take a look at this game. So far, Faerin has still convinced me of its quality. Now too. At first glance the graphics are quite excellent. But I haven't been able to see much of the game yet because I was also bitten by the "program bug". And all the solutions I read here didn't work for me. I admit, this is by far the strangest bug I've ever encountered. I also don't understand how changing the Windows region (which didn't do anything for me) can help at all

Well. I just have to wait until the update. I don't like skipping the intro. I want to know what the story is actually about. As a bridge, is there perhaps a video somewhere where I can watch it until it works for me?

As was mentioned by @oaiki, the update will be out this Friday. The bug in question is due to a specific regional bug where the comma is used for the system date and time instead of a period. We've ran into this once before earlier on, but it's cropped back up again. So changing the region to English (Control Panel >> Region) will get around it. Then, once you get passed the mini-game during the intro, you can change the region back to what it was. There shouldn't be any further issues after that.

Once the update is out, you shouldn't run into that problem anymore. One of the other testers already confirmed that bug was squashed when we were testing this month's release.

Great game so far. I particularly like the puzzle with the books of sins. The color puzzle afterwards is a bit confusing. At first I thought it had something to do with the pictures hanging in certain rooms. The walkthrough says something different. If I hadn't looked there, I would never have found the solution. However, I was wondering how do we normally come up with this solution? For me the books don't look anything like they do in the walkthrough. I don't have anything colored on the spine of the book. So I assume it was specially edited there.

So my question is:
How do we come to the conclusion in the game that we can assign the respective color to the books? What am I missing? :D

EDIT:
I figured it out myself. The women in the respective pictures are all committing a specific sin. Then add the color of the dress on this picture, it corresponds to the specific sin. And last the position where this book is on the bookshelf. Sometimes it helps to think.

Yes, that's correct. TheDevian was gracious enough to include the colors on the spines of the books to make it easier to solve the puzzle, so it could be added to the walkthrough. And you are correct in that each color represents a specific sin. If you were like me growing up, you probably spent many a Saturday morning watching cartoons on TV. Red typically represented anger or wrath, and the familiar phrase "green with envy" was sometimes used. So those two in particular should be easy to remember. :)

Basically the puzzle is good. I'm just a little annoyed that I didn't solve it by myself right away. I grew up with point-click adventures. That sort of thing happens more often there. I'm probably getting old.

So far I like the game a lot better than Mystwood Manor. That's probably because we´re playing a real role this time that we can identify with, being closer to the people. The game before was essentially more of an economic simulation. Even though it's a good game, in the end it never captured me in terms of atmosphere. The current game, however, works fine. I'm totally into it. (y)

I noticed that the German is pretty good. Not a given when you know that Faerin and his people are not nativ German speaker, as far as I know. Our grammar can be a bit confusing to outsiders.

However, I have two points of criticism:

First of all, the writers should agree on the personal pronouns, whether they use the official "sie" or the more personal "du". The permanent mix reads terribly. I would suggest that everyone address the MC as “sie” purely for business purposes at the beginning. Then later, as the relationship grows, everyone switches to “du”. I know this isn't easy for Faerin. Because there are significantly fewer personal pronouns in English.

The second one is the Victorias black gym trainer. Some of his sentences are completely incorrectly translated. There are two or three sentences where the German is completely wrong, the sentence structure is not correct at all. It reads like improvised ghetto slang. This should be revised again.

Thank you for that. I'll pass it on to Faerin.

Dude is not appreciated enough for delivering steady updates on schedule! Such a rare trait nowadays.
I'm still waiting for anal content but Mystwood Manor was great and this will be too eventually.
I know only 2 other devs that deliver new content every month consistanly:
Hail Dicktator [v0.73.1] [Hachigames]
The Roommate [v0.11.11] [togs]
They even manage to develop bigger story arcs, while delivering small updates and this is real professionalism. Staying ahead of the schedule and planning.

The walkthrough for v0.5.1 will be a few days late as I am waiting on replacement parts to arrive for my computer. I should have the walkthrough ready by Monday at the latest. I apologize for the delay.
