A scene an update amounting to two whole minutes of gameplay? If I came back in 5 years I might have something to play?

If you mean the one where it is telling you to go to bed, that is caused by not going to bed properly before the event (waiting until the game forces you to). If you load the older save and go to bed normally, it should work fine.
You will probably need to wait until you progress further into Maddie's story. It is one of her later events.
Not that the moment, at least not without an emulator.
There will be an official mac version when it goes on Steam early next year.

Seems I'm stuck. Only hint is with Rebecca: I should try talking to her, to get to know her a bit better.
But i speak with her at every hour of every day and get no new dialogue.
