Guys, can someone give me advice on where to find Madeline's book for the bookcase? Been to her room multiple times, clicked all interactive objects, nothing... Walkthrough states that it's in one of those, but I checked like every pixel by now, it's just not there. Can it possibly be a bug, when book just haven't spawned, or am I just stupid and missing smth obvious?

Has to be when it time, there will be a hint to go there, IIRC, it is the 3rd time it tells you to go in there.
What does her hint say?

There are 3 occasions you need to go into Madeline's room early on in the game. The first time will unlock the 2 book hints for Madeline.

It says "Her room is unlocked when Rebecca prepares her evening bath". I guess I have the answer from the second reply now, thanks for the help anyways.

I tried the patch but nothing in the dialogue changed, where am I supposed to put the mapping file?

Windows 11 is supported. Are you trying to play the game from the archive or have you extracted it to its own folder? Did you overwrite a previous version? Are you seeing any error messages during extraction or when you launch the game? What, if any, error messages are you getting?
Cheat mods are not supported, as they are known to break the game.
If you mean the extras in game, all you need it the key.ini file, that should be included in the archive already.

no error with the extraction, copy and overwrite a previous version wen i try to run it show the girl with a red triangular near her head for a few seconds and it closes instantly. not working after that.
There is your problem. Never overwrite files.
Extract to a new folder, and then copy over your saves.

TheDevian already said it. It was a necessary security fix in the Engine.
You shouldn't be running Windows 7 anymore nontheless. It's out of support for years now and it's a security risk already. If you do online banking and stuff with that system, it may be a ticking bomb...
Even Windows 10 is out of Support already (except for the ESU part, but this is only a temporary solution).
For your own good, you should consider upgrading your OS.

Well... as you said, I could eventually go for Windows 10, but even it is now outdated. Updating to Windows 11 will simply make most of my games and softwares unusable due to its almost non-existent backward compatibility. If I ever move on, it'll be to Linux. Windows is toast (unless a miracle happens and Windows 12 is actually a decent OS, but nothing points in that direction).
So, between my hundreds of fine working programs and losing it all for one new game only, I prefer keeping my position. Sorry.
And don't worry about my security, this is just my leisure (and occasionally homework) computer
