He’s now much hotter and more masculine than Dylan from Wife and Mother

He got a haircut. I'm not sure how that makes someone more masculine. If you put long hair and a ponytail on him, he could be mistaken for a girl. Right now he looks like a lesbian.

It is your game, as you said, and personal tastes vary and you guys clearly like this look, but you should realize that hardly anyone shares your opinion on his looks. Which is fine, make the game you want. Just own that you like effeminate men. The fact that you called him hot instead of handsome supports that, so lean into it and try to attract the people that are into sissy boys or whatever instead of trying to convince us that he's some manly man after a haircut.

Bro, at this point, we've stopped caring about anything you write. You can't force your opinion on others like that. Even Gianna and Mike paused their drama just to cringe at this. Also, he's not Gianna's dad or brother to 'be a man.' He's a boy — that's literally the point. And if you have a problem with that, just move along. There are plenty of other games out there for every kind of taste.

Hey man, its your game, disregard people trying to force changes, but please, be honest with us and yourself. The MC does not look masculine, if anything he looks like a butch lesbian, you even say the point of him isn't to look masculine, its to look like a boy, so why are you even trying to portray him as masculine? I don't know if its the daz model you chose or what, but at first glance (in that image you sent at least) I would have assumed he was a she, and honestly the haircut is just making it worse. Again, its your game, if this is really your preferred look for him, don't let us stop you, but when you said he was going to become more masculine, I had assumed it would be more than a haircut. Also saying he currently looks more masculine than the guy from a Wife and Mother (who from just a glance at the preview pictures on the f95 page for that game, I can already tell has more masculine facial features than this mc) has to be a joke right? I'm not trying to insult your game design, but at some point you just have to understand that your mc just isn't going to be seen as masculine by the general playerbase and trying to force it does just as much good as people trying to force their opinions that the mc isn't masculine on you. At the end of the day, there will always be disagreements over the looks of the MC, but my recommendation to you is to stop switching between "he is hot and masculine" and "His point is to look like a boy" and just go with "His point is to look like a boy" If you do that I think a lot of people will back off.

Good luck on the game, don't let us discourage you, I'll keep the game thread watched and try to play it once it has gotten some more content in a year or so.

Brother, I'm trying to be courteous but your just proving my point with those pictures. I'm not going to argue with you, this is either a belated April fools joke or an inside joke I am not privy to, cause there's no way you seriously think that guy has a masculine facial structure, its the fat distribution, his face is a bit pudgy in ways that make him look feminine. From the side the hair doesn't make him look like a lesbian, but looking straight on, it still does. As I said, this is a stupid argument. Its your game, I'm not here to beg for changes.

So much for laziness, all the comments about the male protagonist. I see a lot of guys on the street who are a similar age to the protagonist of this game, and honestly, none of them have the facial features of people like Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood. To say that the son of a wife and mother is more masculine than this protagonist. By the way, a game, a wife and mother, is tremendously overrated, designed for pure and simple milking.

To the developers of Scarlet Tales, don't waste your time responding to these kinds of comments. Make your game (quite good, by the way) however you want, and anyone who has prejudices because they don't think the protagonist is masculine can look for another game...

It’s your opinion, and that’s totally okay — but unfortunately, a remake like that will never happen. We simply don’t share your view, and we don’t see Mike as anything other than boyish — which was very intentional. If that’s something you’re particularly sensitive about, maybe this just isn’t the right game for you. Re-rendering thousands of images just because something isn’t to someone’s personal taste isn’t realistic. We stand by Mike and by our design choices. He’s now much hotter and more masculine than Dylan from Wife and Mother, and we didn’t see a single post like this about Dylan. People will always have different preferences and tastes — and that’s perfectly fine.
I'm enjoying your AVN!

I like the MC's looks and understand that he is an 18-year-old guy with a bit of a baby face - which is fine by me.

I know guys like him in RL - they get carded in their late 20's and they will look younger than their years for most/all of their life.

Some would call it a blessing of genetics, others - androgenous/butch lesbian/etc.

Different people project their experiences/likes/dislikes onto characters in all forms of entertainment.

In a visual novel, it is easy for people to find common ground/fault with a character's looks because there is no need to 'fill in the blanks' the way we do when reading a book.

The story and part of the way Gianna relates to the MC relies on the way you created and portray the MC - an increasingly confident, brash, boyish looking guy finding his way and taking some risks with the ladies - regardless of the roof they live under...

I'm looking forward to more Mike/Gianna time as well as seeing how the other women react to Mike.

There is no need to recreate your story/change the look of the MC etc.

It is your story and your creativity bringing it to life.

Those who enjoy it will stay through time and those who do not will leave.

F95 is a forum where a creator will never get the kind of genuine engagement they will from their $ supporters on SS, for example.

'Anonymous' user ids - some primary ids and some alternates for the sole purpose of dissing a creator - will never give you the consistent engagement that your $ supporters will.

IMO - better to spend time creating your AVN and engaging on SS than here on F95 in any kind of flame war where you lose and waste your time because you are trying to have genuine engagement with people who, at best, simply don't like some of your creative choices (nothing you can reasonably fix) and, at worst - are simply trolling you under the guise of offering 'helpful' commentary.

Let your story and your delivery of that story speak for you and the rest will sort itself out.

Cheers!! :coffee:

I just starting to play the game and I think my MC is gay, I don't see it's in the tag so can anyone clarify me before I continue if he's straight. I mean no disrespect to LGBTQ community but I don't want to play as gay then reject a dude, it's against the whole point to immerse myself to the game, but I don't want to accept a dude's advance either...

Thanks, bro! I, we really appreciate your advice. We will just ignore some of the posts and focus on making the most amazing mom and son game we can.

I think you might not understand what I actually mean. I'm not saying he's a bad mc, nor that he should be changed, the only thing I'm saying is that he is not some big masculine himbo man like the dev argues he is, his face looks like a girl's, and thats okay, the only issue I ever had was that the dev says the mc is masculine, when in reality, he's just not, and again, thats okay, its not going to stop me from playing, but the dev needs to realize that people saying the mc is not masculine, is not, in fact some attack from haters trying to force their will on the game, and that it is just the opinion of people. And also stop the weird oxymoron of both saying the MC IS a big masculine man when people write a message saying they think he isn't, but then at the same time trying to blow off any refutes by saying the MC is not in fact meant to be masculine, but instead is meant to look like a young boy. All the dev needs to do is say "Yeah he's not meant to be masculine, we don't see him that way and he was not written to be such" instead of this weird back and fourth of "he is, he isnt"

Hey, just being honest here — being more masculine than Dylan doesn’t automatically make someone the Greek god of masculinity. I’m not sure where you’re coming from with that. It feels like you might be taking things out of context and twisting them a bit. I don’t want to be rude — I don’t know you — so I’ll just say this: let’s all try to do better. Either enjoy the game for what it is or feel free to move on. No hard feelings. I will attach screens for reference. I'll attach screenshots for reference.

I wasn't seriously saying you thought he was the peak of the male form, it was just argumentative exaggeration. I'll play the game when its further along in its dev cycle, (I'm sure it already has a good amount of content, I just prefer to wait a bit) the mc's looks won't stop me from playing or enjoying the game. I apologize if I was rude, from now on I won't speak of the MC's looks, I wish you good luck with further development.

I really like the game, but the storyteller really gets on my nerves. Sorry ... Couldn't you make it more subtle in the form of facial expressions, gestures etc. That would improve the game a lot from my point of view.

Hey man at least give us option to change mc name to get full immersion for novels? Well still its better that I don't have to name it my name mc look little sissy.
Damn it even have pop ww music. Well if the dev got some time he can easily add patch in next update to change our name. It's not that hard to do it. Well hope he does.

I apologize in advance if this has already appeared in the comments. I looked a bit and didn't see it. I got lost in the masculinity debate. Anyway, when I loaded the latest version, my MC's name reverted to "Mike." Is there any way to rename him without going back through the entire game? On the other hand, maybe this is one of the few games that doesn't let me rename the MC and it has always been this way.

You could try Unren, provided the Dev allows the MC name to show.
