Take elevator to basement floor. It's in the "grate", you will not be able to reach the keys.

Go to the cart in the hallway and pick up a long mop/broom. Pick up a piece of gum from your own travel bag in your room if you haven't already.

Now first click on the broom, then click on your chewing gum to combine the two items. Now you can use it to get the keys. The whole game is like this so enjoy figuring out item combos a little.
