I just started this game, started from update 3, it's about 15 minutes long or I'm missing something after the hotel scene? guess I should start at 1 or 2 then?

Use the key that Gina gave Joey to go to her hotel room. From there visit Jason's house and talk to Gloria. She'll give Joey an errand. After that errand, you should see the Hint button (top left of the comp-screen) pulsating. It will give you recommendations for further game progress.
