The event trigger repeats every afternoon (or weekend afternoon for this one I think) that you don't select "Wait" to put it off another day. All event triggers in this game do it, so there really aren't any events that you're not able to participate in. For the mayoral election, you have to be in the living room of your home in the afternoon on a weekend, if I recall correctly. And not have selected "wait" on the previous day if you got the notification for it.

Usually in the appdata folder in for the user. EG

C:\Users\****\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\MilfyDay*****

Personally I recommend to create a shortcut for that Renpy folder.

Lots of games save directory are located there (RenPy ones of course).
