just reading the comment, it's a mixed bag. I guess I'll give it a try. I like to download any available mods for game and it seems the I patch when you launch the game bring up notepad and some russian word seems to be the culprit. Is there an update to that patch and is it even necessary?

I downloaded that bug fix and put it in the game folder and still nothing

You will need to go back before the bug happened like a few saves or so. And if you didn't you need to extract that file first.
