Not exactly sure why this would hurt the development aspect of the game, it's just "cheats" after all, looking at your Patreon monthly pull, and I'm sure there aren't many people paying $127 per month unless they're rich or really dumb when it comes to moneyIf you have to leak it and hurt the games development by doing so you could just have posted it normally,. Not like it being your profile picture changes anything, but I appreciate the effort
Are you serious if this Hurts the Development you really have to get some outside funding fast guysIf you have to leak it and hurt the games development by doing so you could just have posted it normally,. Not like it being your profile picture changes anything, but I appreciate the effort
The graph looks like the usual growth pattern of a successful Patreon venture. The growth is almost always exponential, as you have here (hence the slow start / nothing to do with piracy. The growth spurt is normal / nothing to do with cheats, just the extra effort your team made to add value to your game). Here what I am talking about, so you can make up our own mind about when I say not being pirated and cheats are helping with the games fundingYou don't have permission to view the spoiler content. *it smells like a very bad pr stunt*
Guys...So many Patreon games are being leaked here [...] In the face of piracy, good games will succeed and bad games will fail.
What I don’t understand is why are we, a group of pirates, thieves [...] NOT sharing the Patreon version of this game?
I strongly disagree. The curve would have climbed much faster without a released pirated version, just as you can see in April to July. A game like this would have grown faster. You're talking about exponential growth yourself and the graph displays anything BUT exponential growth. The graph looks like the usual growth pattern of a successful Patreon venture. ... and loss of funds means risk of having to end development of the game increases. Unless, of course, you have a way to pay for ordered/commissioned assets/artwork design/sound tech with insufficient funds..? You know damn well that Patreon creators base their investments on their fundings. And if I were a betting man, I'd say keep doing what you're doing, and Team Monolith will be successful in their goals. As I said: good games will succeed, bad ones will fail.
You said it yourself, cheats are nothing of value and low effort, and they're not relevant to the game's content. And this is exactly WHY they are the rewards for high tiers. Or would you rather suggest locking real content behind high money tiers or not giving anything to high money tiers?Yes but you shouldn't anyway do shady manipulation strategies like making cheats a value proposition, it has todo with morality of a developer my dear finance expert friend.
You doing well why are you manipulating people this way ?
Geez you should have the lowest fear rate compared to many others seeing your steady production growth and value deliver and a product that is simple but consistent and even keeps delivering on most of it's expectations.
Why you would floodgate this down the drain with such strategies is beyond me.
Not even any real indie studio in the whole world would ever do this neither any publisher, they would do other shady things yes but not this craziness and try to monetize cheats and simple engine functions but he ya it's porn lets get really shady, shouldn't we
If you try to monetize something monetize on something of real Value, do i think it's Value to make a Menu option and some link to basic debug functions nope it is certainly not.
Monetization strategies like this will only cause bad backfire on everyone else and their reputations.
They will push us "Higher complexity" Porn Devs in a very very very bad light.
And finally it will also push Patreon in a very very very bad light
Also it makes few sense seeing how open you guys are trying connecting here and even doing these competitions for your community growth, might be pure calculation but i think there is more ticking a lot of fear of course, you found a nice team and you putting things well together that immensely shows
That Cheat Monetization doesn't feel like you and your work at all and it's really disturbing and a strange contradiction.
