There's a limited harem. The ghost, the mermaid, and Olga are not part of it though.

No, no. There is no harem at the end of the story so the harem before that doesn't matter.

It's a little convoluted though. At the ending party you don't call someone up to you, don't tell the mermaid you love her, then you get a short snippet of a harem ending that I really hope gets expanded as well. Cause it's eluded that Nina gets back with Alex but she's still with you? Yeah, really hoping that gets fixed.

The endings in Monster College are an insult to anyone who invested time into it. They are some of the worst endings I've read in any VN.

I'd say wait a bit for these endings to be expanded. It's a little like the Mass Effect 3 ending before they fixed it. Rushed and empty. The dev did say he's working on it, and we're seeing progress with this update. Maybe in a few months.

damn even with a new update on a brand new playthrough these problems still exist on my Lily only playthrough
for some reason I can't get the top option to work

So I just played the new ending, and although it's not a fix because, let's be honest, that would be a lot of work, it is at least an ever-so-slight improvement on the previous ending, and I at least appreciate that they tried to make good in some way instead of just moving on to their next project.
I probably would have gone with Grace instead of Olga, though that's a personal taste thing.

That is so weird ... the game could just have ended on some convoluted cliffhanger and then teasing a new season someday , it would make more sense. Even if it never somehow got a new season. Now in all likelihood, dev will take months, a year to release rushed extended epilogues, for each characters that will ignore everything you picked, and some similar crap extended harem ending as a cherry on top. Honestly i won't complain much more than this post since i have not spent a dime yet on it ... But all this is teaching me , is that I'll not touch another future game from the dev/team, till it's complete and I'm sure it won't pull the same crap.

Elementary, my dear fellow. You're not with Sofia, hence unconcerned with Lily making a move on her.
You're also not an absolute ass, hence the game not giving you an option to stop a mere fling from having a little fun for herself – 'not your girlfriend', after all.
You have to be on a relationship path or a harem path with her for it not to happen.
