The why is baffling when we go through this game scene by scene:
MC pledges (if players want it so) to the eugenics professor he will be the missing link in werewolf lore, MC pledges (if players decide it so) to the ”rag doll” sweetie in the library that he will read and cherish all the texts in there throughtou the game.
MC decides (if players are OK with it) to go ahead with his pledges and saves the werewolf hottie from the horrible hazing ritual.
MC decides (if players want to indulge) to save the dishonored alpha from the blame of being caught red handed with the stolen artefact.
MC reads up on the meaning of alpha werewolf - to be with multiple wives in the pack he rules.
We are missing the promissed pack plot line ending where MC is the Alpha of his pack of hotties and dominates, the way he has been pledging to everyone all throughout the game and the way he can talk about being the Alpha special one to bring forth a new era in werewolf existence.
That is written all throughout this game and we are left wondering where the mind of the developer went astray to not do the obvious conclusion of the prepared and plot relevant and story obvious conclusion of becoming the Alpha MC is buit out to be the whole game, in plot, in thought, in talks with literally everyone - not to mention dev put the harem to a vote to his supporters and HArem won by a landslide with twice the amount of any other choice. Proceeding to ignore the lore, plot and the effective story of MC toiling relentlessly to become the next best thing in College - the prophesized Alpha of legent - killed this game in every possible way. View attachment 4327685 506 votes for harem in AVNs - that is the wording used, each and every AVN!
Only explanation is full onset dementia and absolute retardness to forget the whole plot that has been pushing this game forward since the very beginning, gradually b uilding with every update, to then be absolutely thrown into the bin in the end.
The savior thing - being saved is a known fetish of mermaids since for ever, as the story goes, they would appear and drive people mad about finding them and saving them from the seemingly desolate gloomy places they would appear in - mermaid needs to be saved and MC has the savior complex - as any Alpha for any pack would - it is in the blood of Alpha wolves to seek a pride and battle with anyone who would stand in their way to rule - driven genetics at their best.
The urges of their blood and their genetics permeating their still fragile yong adults egoes is what makes this whole game worth it.
MC is not shown to be in any pack by the time he has to fight and lose a battle with king shark, only for his alpha supreme werewolf gene to manifest and for him to win that war for survival with another apex predator - the shark, king of the ocean - specifically king of the pond that borders the lands of the college.
The fights are all slowly developing his pack mentality, which he is sorely lacking, but with each girl he fights for and helps out, he is building his pack the way onlly humans would, as opposed to his Alpha predator extreme final mutation, the one who would simply subdue and dominate. MC reads about his genes being preordained to rule a pack and essentially a harem of women - that is the starting point of the harem path. If you ignore to read all about the history of werewolves and their ways, you cannot hop on the harem path at all.
The writing was on the wall for this game right from the start of the college adventure ... with those suspiciously dismissive thoughts:
Such a frkin huge universe and we only got to experience the college. Ik it's in the title bla bla bla. So what? Yeah it is and for a good reason it's in that college he encounters and experience the biggest things in his life, a lot of masterpiece outlive their initial names, why? bc there is potential for more. Anyway, thx man I'm happy to see I'm not the only one frustrated lol
It's a curse of many writers. When they get to 70 or 80% of the story they want to finish it now, they can't wait. But the good ending needs time and polish.
The saddest part about what you said is it's true. Not the ending I wanted but atleast it "progressed" unlike alot of other games and it actually ended rather than being abandoned, again, just like other games.
I wonder.
Rather than end things the way they did here, let's see developers do something really ZANY and have the MC go through a door, and into a totally different game!
Chasing Sunsets is on the list of decent games that have shitty endings but the developers most likely rushed it because of their making another game in the future.

Hello everyone.
I will clarify for the umpteenth time some concepts that you may have missed in the 194 pages of comments.
-I removed the harem tag 2 days after the first release of the game because it was intended to be a partial harem and I did not want to give the idea that the “full” harem.
Nothing has changed: as stated from day one, not all LIs would end up in the harem path.
-I never said there would be pregnancy scenes in this game; I have already explained this several times.
-I reiterated several times that the game would consist of 8 chapters + an epilogue.
The “epilogue” turned out to be longer than Ch. 1.
So it was always designed that way, good or bad it's not like I got bored and finished it on the fly.
For convenience I quote a post of mine from a year ago (January seems like yesterday).
(I won't tell you even under torture which are the main girls)
as said from the beginning the game has harem endings this does not mean that all the main Li will have chances to end up in the harem
one big chapter 7 release is missing, chapter 8 which as has been said will be eventful and a bit longer than the others.
but as said there will be an epilogue chapter (in short we are still far from the credits)
as for a MC 2 I have no plans for that yet, finished monster college I had in mind :
1) a sequel with the same MC and the same location
2) a sequel with the same MC and a different location
3) a sequel with a different MC in this location or another one but with the same setting
4) a different game with a different setting but with similar mechanics, maybe set aside more time to do a sequel maybe gathering various suggestions.
however, I haven't started working on it yet I wouldn't have the material time (I have to look for collaborators because otherwise I'll get to the epilogue melted)
-The ending concludes the protagonist's first year of college. The first year (where did you read anything different?).
Sooner or later the idea is to make a sequel (A MONSTER COLLEGE 2) to expand the story and characters. Also, while the story is closed, I did not mean to close the development as well, I can still add and refine things. (As I have always done with all previous chapters).
-I regret that I could not make a sex scene with the full harem. (And I will explain why many other developers do not).
Not only would the writing have been very difficult (with only 6 characters available, there are 15 possible combinations), but DAZ simply does not allow me to render so many characters at once (despite the 4090 my pc mounts).
Anyone who has ever opened DAZ knows what I am talking about. I could ask Elon Musk to lend me his “Colossus” supercomputer.
In the end, having had no way the harem sex scenes, I chose not to add the scenes with the individual LIs either. (To avoid an imbalance between the endings, avoiding death threats from those who chose the harem route.)
As always (in this year and a half) I have been open to comments, it is clear that if you write “the ending is bad” it is not feedback, it is just a comment for its own sake.
