The next update is going to be the next part of Venefica's content. Presumably we'll only get the Labyrinth after she is complete.

This isn't every other monster girl game ever where you're treated like garbage and killed by the monsters for daring approach them, it's a far more light-hearted setting. We're only likely to meet meaner character (to which extent is still very unclear) in the Capital.
Funny you should ask that as I finally have a day off after a few weeks of constant work and will share that information later in this post. The Capital and Casino will not arrive and until after the Labyrinth as that is the next story location. The Labyrinth is planned to be the next area of focus after the Elly and Venefica updates such as the content currently being worked on.

Hello everyone, long time no see. Apologies for the lack of news and information for the past three weeks, but current events and the recent surge in cases due to the pandemic resulted in work being incredibly busy. This was further compounded by a few colleagues falling ill themselves resulting in an even larger workload. Suffice to say, I've clocked over 220 hours the past few weeks. As such, I come bearing presents in the form of update news information as well as the latest developments on the modding front including a brand new spooky mod for Halloween.
There was a poll for Amber's new art up on Patreon with various options with how to potentially approach it. The most popular option was that Amber's old art should be updated and remain Amber's art while the Dark Elf new art should be used for a new character instead. The poll has basically been inline with Threshold's thinking on the matter, especially with the feedback on the art and the situation, so it is very likely Amber's appearance will largely remain the same while the new art will become a new character instead. Threshold did state that it will be some time before this situation can be properly resolved however, so Amber's art may not be touched up for some time and the new character using this art could be a ways off as well.
First for the update news, Renpy's innate text functions should now work alongside MGD's text functions, so now it is possible to use the built in functions for resizing and coloring the text in addition to those functions specific to MGD. This is something more for modders than anything, but it can result in different sized and colored text for the game in general as well. So text could gradually become smaller for a shy character using a decreasing volume while speaking like Tabitha or the text box could be filled with giant characters for say Jora yelling. It is also possible to insert images into the text box now, so status effect icons could show up and be used in dialogue which could help with tutorials or explanations of said status effects.
As another technical part of this update, you can now check for CurrentArousal, CurrentEnergy, or CurrentSpirit when using the Stat SwapLineIf function or RequiresStat menu function or the StatEqualsOrMore function. Additionally, RemoveStatusEffectFromMonster and RemoveStatusEffect can now be used to remove the following status effect types: Damage, Defence, Power, Technique, Intelligence, Willpower, Allure, Luck, and Crit. At this time it will remove them regardless of if it's a buff or debuff, and will remove ALL of the effects of that type present on the character. This may get updated later on to allow for the selection of specific status effects such as an enemy purging your buffs while not removing your debuffs.
There has also been something of balance adjustment as the Sleep status effect has been reworked. It now functions kind of like an Aphrodisiac, but drains energy every turn, and stacks potency with each successive application, but the duration wont reset if hit again. If you hit 0 energy while affected by Sleep, you will fall asleep, regaining 50% of your max energy, but if you cum while sleeping you lose 25% of your Spirit. This should make sleep less of a 'need to remove in the next 3 turns' and something you can manage or work around in multiple ways. Additionally, the SleepAmp perk type now also lowers or increases Energy lost by the sleep status. For modders and potential modders, if you have a mod enemy that uses sleep as a status effect, Threshold reccomends you check Ancilla's sex skills for the minor changes. Keep in mind Sleep "requiresStatusEffect": "Sleep", "requiresStatusPotency": "-99", means target is asleep, and "requiresStatusEffect": "Drowsy", means the energy drain phase. As the final component of this rework, there were fixes for "Drowsy" as a Status Effect to check for being labeled "Drowzy" instead of "Drowsy". Most Sleep effects will drain 5 Energy a turn for five turns currently but Sofia's is notable as her Sleep effects drain 10 Energy a turn for five turns instead. Red Matango Sleep effects also drain 10 Energy a turn but only lasts for three turns.
Originally, Sleep still had its original function for enemies, but it was updated for them as well in order to remain consistent. So, MGs have had their energy values revised to be better affected by this new system. Boss enemies by and large will have 100 or more points of Energy while more common enemies and mobs will have 30 to 50 Energy. An obvious exception is Sofia who only has 20 Energy for her first fight, so feel free to essentially Stunlock her with Sleep unless the value is changed in the future. As an additional bonus, Shizu and her clones have different Energy values, this helps make it even easier to detect the real one through either using Sleep as the Status Effect's tooltip will keep track of the target's Energy, Analyze, or both. So modders need to be certain to give their creations proper levels of Energy as well otherwise they may either be virtually immune to Sleep or extremely vulnerable to the effect. There is also now a new function of ChangeMonsterMaxEnergy to help facilitate this shift. Additionally, the mechanic that awarded temporary immunity to Sleep after waking up is gone given the auto Energy heal when falling asleep essentially granting a reprieve before falling asleep due to the status effect again. This especially holds true for MGs as they regain all of their Energy when they fall asleep due to the Status Effect rather than half of their Energy like the player.
The description of Imp Juice has been tuned up a little. It is also now possible to drink Imp Juice if you really want to. Functionally, it is similar to Alraune Nectar and drinking it will inflict the Aphrodisiac status effect.
The creation of new Elly investigation content and Venefica content has continued apace and will prominently feature in this update. Firstly, if working as Venefica's "familiar", you can now break out of the cell if working an extended shift for Venefica. Technique, Intelligence, Allure, and Luck are all valid attributes for escaping, but Power is not valid as it would cause too much noise while Willpower only helps endure the treatment but not escape. The Allure variant even includes a line of note as to what may happen if you are caught after escaping, "Though if I happen to catch you upstairs... Who knows what I might have to do to punish you. I'm sure you wouldn't dare go up there to be caught so I can edge you into an incoherent puddle begging for more for being naughty. No, certainly not." So unless you want to be left to Venefica's oh so tender ministrations for an unspecified amount of time, you may wish to avoid being caught sneaking around her house.
Next up, there is now an exploration infrastructure in place for navigating around Venefica's house as a part of the investigation as well as a movement AI for Venefica as she wanders around her house too. So, if you're not careful, Venefica can catch you sneaking around in restricted areas of her house where you are not supposed to be which will lead to the previously described situation mentioned in the previous inline spoiler. There has also been discussion of a breaking and entering variant for exploring Venefica's house and not going through the "familiar" work route, but it is not certain that there will be enough time to implement this alternative route for this part of the investigation.
Next, to help the player evade Venefica, there are hiding spots and if she enters the room the player is in and they are not hiding, the player can attempt to quickly hide without being spotted. There are also lines covering the situation of if the player is already hiding when Venefica enters the same room as the player. Other unspecified work has been done as well. Finally, it is possible the finale to the investigation could be pushed back to next month as the plan is still to push an update at the end of this month.

Additionally, there is now a spooky mod just in time for Halloween. This mod is a collaboration between avid modders with Valentin Cognito, the creator of Gren when she was a mod, and Oluap, creator of mods such as the Oneiros Dream Mod and the Gorgon's Garden which features Euryale the Gorgon, along with playtesting by EpicKark, the creator of Mari the Butterfly's mod and adjustments to the art assets by Kaa of Beach Party fame. This mod does use MGE Night Gaunt art, just that it was tweaked by Kaa to look somewhat transparent. Changelog is as follows:

She has a WIP level that is off the charts, i think if you did get a chance to fight her it would basically be instant rape anyway.
But to be serious she is stated to be in the top tier power wise and i doubt she'd be as nice as Sophia and ease you into it with progressively harder fights, i think she's going to be postgame in terms of difficulty, not got anything to back that up though.

Despite having some dark lores, i agreed. MGD is one of the light-hearted monster girl ones like Desire Dungeon and Succubus Affection, which is a nice change of pace. I still liked dark settings monster girl h-games like MGQ series, but i think there's already so much of it that i think it's enough like Domination Quest, Succubus Covenant, Succubus tower, Most monster girl game by Dieselmine, etc.

You need to do the Urgent "Mushroom" Investigation quest in the Mystic Forest. The only requirements for the quest to unlock is getting the Sigil of Allure by beating the Forest Dungeon and getting enough progress with Elly. you probably just need to talk with Elly more. getting the True Sigil from the Temple and going to the guild provides a big plus too.
Sorry, I'm a little confused by what you've said; have you found the candy shop yet, or are you still looking for it? If you're still looking, I believe it's recommended that you try to exhaust all dialogue options in the Town (especially with Elly), beat the Forest Dungeon, then head to the Forest. If you fulfill all these requirements, there should be a new quest.
If you've successfully visited Bon Bon Bun, though, and the only issue is that you just can't go to the Guild at night, I'm afraid I dunno anything that might help. Try progressing your relationship with Venefica some more and purchase a few sweets, maybe? Apologies; I'm hardly L30, blessed be his name.
