So maybe a silly question but are the mods actually good?

Like I'm assuming the mods are mostly adding various encounters or areas to visit, maybe with some waifu scenes or art or w/e, but are they actually well made and cool?

I don't really want to bother sifting through a pile of fanfic-y trash to find one or two good mods if they're pretty bad on the whole.
The honest answer is, "It varies." The Beach Party one adds a whole new area with new characters and quests. I think it's very well done. I also really like Gorgon's Garden, though it only adds one character. Pale Priestess is also of high quality. Waifupocalypse adds a lot, but it's scattered around and the narrative voice is a touch snarkier than the regular game, which kind of flags where the added content is. Ilveria is kind of a preview of a future boss fight for a new area mod the author is working on. Oneiros is good if you remember to actually sleep at night instead of just adventuring constantly, since it adds more possibilities to the dreams your character can have. I just installed They Need Your Help and Whelpling for the first time this go-round, and I haven't really looked at them yet. Dirty Cheats is just a cheat mod to power level/wealth boost/overpower your character without using the console or grinding for hours. Night Gaunt's Lair... I have been on the fence about. It's kind of like a spoopy slime girl vibe.

Using a mod instead of the console is a bit of overkill, really. Also, Ren'py developer mode is worth it if you're playtesting.

The Beach, Mari and Pale Priestess are the most popular mods but they don't get content frequently unfortunatly. Last update for pale priestess was on December... and same for The beach and Mari (Probably october/november). I don't know if the modders are still working on these projects but maybe if they are we will get more content soon i hope.

Is this game only femdom, or is it like CoC where you can rape the girls if you win?
1st answer: play the game.
2nd answer: read the blog

Monster Girl Dreams is a text based BFRPG made in Ren'Py. (The BF stands for Battle Fuck.)
...ok I'll concede BF (Battle-fuck) is not defined.
Leaving the history aside, BF, when used properly like here, means orgasm = defeat. Both parties are sexually assertive, and the one who wins the battle gets the upper hand. Sexually. Hence there's no rape in this game.
- If you defeated her she very much does not deny your winner's privilege.
- If you were defeated, well you're the loser and will be treated as such. That's also in your job's description.
- there are also ways to outsmart or be outsmarted without a battle. But you won't know unless you actually try the game.
- there's also romance and out-of-battle events for many girls. Competition ain't all there is in life.

TL,DR: Yes, BF is awesome. I wish other devs and users could use the category properly.

*Checks Mods folder*
The ones I have tested and had work are Artificial Love, Beach Party, Dirty Cheats, Gorgons Garden, Ilveria, Night Gaunt's Lair, Oneiros, Pale Priestess, They Need Your Help, Waifupocalypse, and Whelpling. I also tried Wonderland but as stated above, it caused a crash on game start.
Thank you for testing them out and posting your findings.

Is there a tag for BF yet? If not, how do we request one?

Apologies for being negative about 99% of the time but tags - especially on F95 - are very broken.

If you'd still like to give it a go and check back in a few years, try this section and if you want to show the staff some extra good will to make them react faster, make the tag definition as objective as you can. Also make sure to check the rejected subsection first so you don't end up wasting your time (and a staffer's) waiting for years, lol.

(Tag requests are all over the place in there, so apologies if there is a centralized thread, it's just not really convenient...)

Since the search engine also will not allow you to directly search content without messing with it, you'd literally have to add Battle Fuck to the thread title to force indexing, which usually isn't a good idea unless you want to name your game using a derived combination of words, like Battle Fuckers, Battle Fuckdom, Battle Fucktoads etc.

Made the stickies huge on my side because they're barely visible on default Xenforo junk.

Not to mention, the tag would be used inappropriately, or like they often do they'd still stick a "titjob" job on a game that has only one titjob among 50 scenes, etc... The cancer is too advanced to be cured at this point.

Yeah, this was the point I was trying to convey too - existing tags are being either misused (not enough content or none at all) or not used where they apply, so this even adds to the trouble. Ongoing games are problematic as they are encouraged to tag "planned content" if you plan to use exclusions, so you'll want to prioritize engines and technical tags that are already a thing.

To answer LoveHurts in a more positive manner though, maybe try the Latest Updates alpha version (not the one on top, this one should also be very visible but just in case) and see what works best for you with inclusions/exclusions with the "current" tags, and keeping in mind what sandsea_urchin said (you'll get false positives and miss false negatives). Not sure if Sam said something about an advanced description/post field search as that could use up a significant amount of resources depending on how it works, as well as open a can of worms as posts will unavoidably mention fetishes without explicitly referring to them being (or not being) in the game, so the detection algorithm here on "is that a tag-related post and how 'trustable' is it, for lack of a better term" would quickly go south...

tl;dr: Tags are quite the headache for imageboards, so yeah, they're a full-blown chronic migraine for ongoing games...

There's such a clusterfuck of tags I didn't even notice "combat" and "turn based combat", to be honest... Thanks for this decker2.

The recurring problem I notice with the tag thread is people give games as examples but not an objective definition (take it from a fellow staffer and no, not defending the staff here, but looking at the whole +1 shitposting in that thread, I can see how staff would just decide to ignore those threads).
Description draft: A sex-based combat system that fully relies on lust-based mechanics and does not involve traditional combat mechanics (such as hitpoints and mana), and where the winners and losers become the dominant and submissive partners at the end of the fight or leads to a sex-based bad end.
This is far from the ideal definition, but if you want to revive your own thread, maybe try with something like this? You don't have to credit me, just modify the draft as you see fit and see if that gets some attention from the staff. (Be warned that those +1s are likely to completely vanish as well, and will very likely result in at least warnings...)

Keep the game examples for reference as this is a good thing. I'm baffled that those tags don't even have any definition at all when many of them are pretty obscure, even if they're used regularly in porn. This is even worse than a booru tagging approach, but this one would be for the Feedback section... (and left to rot)

The point is to make sure everyone gets the gist of it and how to use it, and clicking on the tag brings you to the definition instead of - what the actual fuck - synonyms and posts that somehow are more or less related to this tag... or just brought up the term...

i add a definition text to my thread, is this good enough?
battle fuck definition:
A sex-based combat system that fully relies on lust/sex-based mechanics
and does not involve traditional combat mechanics
(such as: hitpoints/mana or weapons/armors and skills meant to kill)
and where the loser becomes the submissive partner at the end of the fight
or leads to a sex-based bad end gor = getting fucked to death:p

Not sure if this is what you're saying, but the tags do all have definitions: Tags Rules and List
The problem is that they are applied in a very absolutist manner, with tags being applied based on a single scene. Not to mention that there is no distinction at all made for if tagged content is avoidable or not, so a blacklist will have false positives for games with a single, avoidable scene.

Ah, thanks Master of Puppets. Now I remember this sticky but missed the spoilers... And yeah, same problem as usual - "focus" or "presence" aren't exactly concepts here, but those have been a constant debate on the place that gave Bloo the template for the past 15 years, so yeah...

Looking at the tag definitions in the spoilers, that should at least be good enough as a draft.

The progress is extremely slooooooooow. I mean no offense by this as I have no stake in this game either way, but other text based games are progressing at far faster pace.

I'm pretty new to this game but the moment I saw "15th is my deadline but it really should be done much earlier" and then the inevitable "idk when" it's pretty obvious that this game is going through what every other porn game is going. I'm not sure what exactly causes this in smut game development but literally every single one I've seen extends deadlines or goes past them. I've come to expect and not care about it since I don't pay a penny for any of 'em, it'd be entitled to whine about it while not paying.
I joined just before the Venefica fight update, but damn progress seems to be slow on this game, no offense. Is it in a slump right now or was this always the pace, veteran patreon dudes?

After three years of being around this thread, I still haven't finished a single playthrough.

Sure, I ran into the Threshold "you can't access the capital, sorry" thingie, but that isn't important. I mean, when I see this, I just backtrack and go cuddle with Ancilla (back when Sofia told you she couldn't show you her true form), have socially awkward fun with Tabitha since I'm an avoidant myself, or go back to Trisha to have her get all flustered about foot fetishes. Then I realize I completely forgot about Kotone even she had a massive art addition and is one of my favorites as well, even though I'm no hypno fan...

If you want the fun to last, play at your own pace and enjoy it the way it is meant to be enjoyed: read all of the dialogue, explore all of the sex actions, maybe even try all of the battlefuck options, and don't forget to boost your interactions with every single NPC as well.

It's simple, really. Hell, I hate playing as a male protagonist and this didn't bother me even one bit here because the dialogue is epic, the CGs are damn cute and the interactions are fun and immersive. And the battlefuck system is quite refined to be honest - not many games give you this much detail on what each move does and what to expect (not just the "lust damage formula" estimate).

Most text-based games are fast because they aren't this deep and just random dialogue slapped with random assets. Which really makes me cringe when it just happens to have fetishes I enjoy and the low-effort dialogue destroys it all, especially with tons of typos or completely broken NPC encounters.
