Hoi!
Why is Honeymoon Blessing commented out? Was it something that existed in previous versions but then got removed because it was causing issues/needed balancing? Or just something that was supposed to be implemented but never got around to due to being a low priority?
Don't quote me on this, but I believe Honeymoon Blessing was removed for being too good for its niche. If you played a Demon Layer build, it was too easy a way to stack Virility.
As you can see, it was thus shelved, but kept around for potential later use.
Speaking of JA-SON! json files: Some enemies have Setmusic code that would cause issues if it weren't for the fact that (so far) you never fight multiple different types of enemies at once. Which begs the question: Are conflicting music files one of the many issues that mixed enemy groups would cause or is that not relevant at all?
Music actually won't conflict! In case of several music calls happening, the game will just use the first one. However, music is only a minor issue among all the other ones that having multiple different types of enemies would cause, the most prominent one being that those enemies' moves wouldn't complement each other well and might even conflict. Enemies are created with a certain battle setup in mind, and detracting from that setup would result in a clunky battle.
It's
technically possible to create battles with different types of enemies if you so wish, but the results would be messy and most likely unsatisfying.
Fertilia Fertilia! is some fucking bullshit I swear. I wouldn't bother with it were it not the fact that it's one of the few ways you can gain game skill experience for Lovol. Beating the whole thing isn't enough to progress her event chain but I ain't going through that shit again and neither should you: Edit ArsDelusiaArcadeFertillia.json "NameOfScene": "ExitStage2", "GetEventAndChangeProgress", "GameSkillTracker", "1". Change that 1 to 100 (IIRC you only really need 30 game skill and you get 10 by training with Lovol.) and voila! You only need to beat Stage 2 to max out your game skill.
That said, despite the heavy amount of save scumming involved, it was kind of fun if only for those moments where the "smart" AI decides to just piss off to other side of the map even though it had you Dead to Rights (TM). Changing all the music to MSX Metal Gear songs definitely helped.
Fertilia Fertilia! was designed to have a certain amount of chance, unfairness, and frustration to it... Not to the point of being a huge pain, obviously, but enough that it poses a challenge. And on the other hand, the AI was purposefully designed to not always act optimally, in order to give players wiggle room. If it's absolutely horrendous, though, we'll make sure to take the feedback into account!
If you're after GameSkill Progress, though, note that Slime Queen's Parade will give you some too, at a rate of 1 Progress/200 points.
I wonder: Do the devs use copyrighted music first to see what's most fitting, then look for a royalty free track that best matches it or do they just skip to the latter step?
As a rule, we try to use music tracks that have already been added to the game, for the sake of not having a bunch of tracks with overly specific uses that would take a bunch of space. Copyrighted music typically doesn't come into the picture, even as inspiration.
When we want something that existing tracks don't deliver on, we take a look at various royalty-free sources and pick the best fit that we can find. The latest additions in that vein were "02 Mommy & Mommy", "05 Canariensis Birdcage", and "The Secret Room", all for Malicia.
You know, for a character that doesn't even have an unique portrait, Lovol's pretty fun to hang out with. Ampere's sweet, but I really like sassy types.
Glad you like her! Ampere and Lovol happened as a result of getting carried away with giving them names, then making them both unique characters with plenty of interactions and sex scenes. The "Officer Jenny" vibe was fun to play with, too.
Lovol was intended to be a less overtly affectionate, more sharp-tongued, more dismissive character than most, for people who are into that kind of personality and kink, so it's cool to know you like her!
