It's not worth thinking bad about the devs but piracy is such a stupid reason to go full isolation mode. Their own people definitely dabble in it as well after all.Me neither, but its a most prominent issue with japanese devs for some reason, they prob still think they're in meiji era going all isolationist~
Jokes aside, no idea, we could consider ROBF dev's xenophobic points a thing in there, like how he used to say "i wont make english translation because gaijin only pirate my game and i wont get any profit from them, only japanese people pay for games"
and yes, a dev said this, not exactly these words because it's been a while, but it was basically that, good thing he "kinda" turned a new leaf and brought his last game on steam.
Which i bought.
Just to send a message.

I think the creator of butterfly affection said the same thing. This is probably the result of some sort of mental problem they developed at some point so it's difficult for me to simply brush their feelings aside and yell profanities.
This is not an insult mind you, I prioritise mental health over everything else. If it makes them actually feel more comfortable they should keep at it.
My standing on piracy is: "If it literally feels bad to buy something, feel free to pirate it". People with low buying power will have a fuck ton more difficult time justifying a purchase than the average person, I won't even mention the mental toll it takes to constantly live worried about money. I'd say it's more humane to let them do as they please since it just results in an extra fan who might end up getting into a better financial situation and be one of those sales you're so fucking invested in earning.
Of course people are still going to jump you and yell things like "Just get a job, you don't have to buy it to live, you're scum for stealing from the devs." While sipping their tea and sucking their cocks as reward for their service to humanities' morals.
This turned into a personal rant really quick and I apologize for time wasted. Anyway, point is, Some people buy shit and some people don't want to/can't buy shit no matter where you're from. If you're gonna end up getting a net gain I don't think it's worth throwing shit at pirates who were most likely never going to use your product otherwise anyway. It'll just result in hate between groups.
The situation is sort of different in certain porn content though. Some people just don't want their credit card company questioning their purchase of 16 volumes of "Farting hero battle fuck".
