This is the power of an much more efficient picture format :p
There is in my opinion NO excuse for using the image format png in renpy games, the quality difference is not really noticeable ... and our hero Joker did not even used the 100% quality settings in his compression. (btw, huge thanks JokerLeader - you are awesome , as always^^)

Really, I can not understand how someone is so smart to code an entire game with hundreds or even thousands lines of code and still does not see the advantages of the jpg/webp image format.

It costs a few minutes to find, download, install and use an image converter (free software example -> XnView/XnConvert) ...

How long did it took you to upload the 2.64 GB ??
Judging by my internet speed - I could have downloaded & installed XnConvert, unpacked the game, converted all pictures, repacked it AND uploaded the game in less time than it would took me to download the whole original png behemoth. :cool:

Besides my (usual) ranting about png´s ... thank you for sharing your project/game with us Night Hacker

Night hacker is no longer the developer. I'll look into making the next version smaller

I am only responsible for the versions up to 1.8(final), anything after that is Interbladecard's work as I gave him my source code so he could take it in whatever directions he wished.

I originally done the game up using WEBP for images and WEBM for videos with a 90% quality which gave them a nice balance of quality verses compression. But I bet i could tell the difference as I understand how WEBP's compress. But whatever floats your boat. I know you can absolutely go much smaller, but I personally always found 90% to be a nice balance, at least with WEBP's and JPGs. I like WEBP's for this sort of thing. PNGs are nice, but I proved over a decade ago that I can get better quality and compression with JPEGs. PNGs are lossless, but the file size is large. When you compress them down, the quality goes down with it. I have always been able to get better quality with smaller file sizes with JPEGs if needed, at least back then. These days WEBPs are quite nice, but not without a quality reduction. I can absolutely tell the difference as I have run TONS of tests at various compression settings with different file formats. For VNs like this, where you may look at the image for a second or two, yeah, compress it down, why not, nobody will probably notice.

Anyhow, only the game programming was done by me as well as what compression and file conversion I did. The original renders and story is Interbladecard's. As stated, he wanted my source code to do his own thing, so I gave it to him.

What's new from the first release of The Motel with these second release. Coz the first release The Motel story ended when Dylan and Sophia wake up in the road after they had been drugs.

I think he was asking about your intent or vision and not specifically his preference.
Personally I'd rather not have it since I'm not a fan of those types of content (and when I played this/watched this thread the ntr tag wasnt here yet but then I read it was skippable...)or make it a choice locked scene which I can skip while not having it affect the main story. But you know make the story YOU want my guy

This is really nice to hear.
If you allow, I would make a second suggestion (as compromise). Offer 2 versions ... the first you make it like you want it - image wise - whatever fits your quality standards (HQ-version). And before you upload it, take the 5 minutes it takes to convert the pics to jpg - you do not even need to change the code if you use "cmd" (or similar mass renaming functions) to rename all the pics at once back to png ("rename */game/images/*.jpg */game/images/*.png").
With this you can satisfy the quality obsessed ones and the majority of the players.

This is like I said just a compromise suggestion ^^
For my part I am already satisfied to see 1080p image file with less than 1MB size each ;)
Night Hacker said it perfectly fine with his "no need" statement.
