Probably dev sent you the wrong copy of the game - the demo version that is linked here. I have the full version and as far as I know they work fine. You should probably contact him.

I don't know about that, surely not. However, on this site, several accounts have posted malicious links on a regular basis. And we're dead on the time frame for a new "attack" wave. And also, any of this game links that I pass through Virus Total comes back with at least one AV flag so idk...
