I'm pretty sure the devs are just hinting at releasing the mod themselves, maybe anonymously to get around platform restrictions; if so, then it's smart as hell lol, kind of like those R18 Steam patches.

Everyone pretty much. Just look up 'Steam pulling adult content' on google. Banks are pulling some strings thanks to special interest groups, and as big as Steam is.. they need a payment system.

no gimped doesn't mean cancelled, it means gimped aka disabled. Meaning thanks to new rules and restrictions the game has been made disabled. Like there's pages of pages of it right before my comment, maybe read those fist next time and follow the context of my comment.
either way, like others have said, this made me lose interest in the game.

Hey, it's still alive, we're kicking!
We just didn't make a public update yet, since no build since the last one has satisfactory amounts of content. It's a big project with many moving parts, so it will take some time.
It's a weird time to be making games like that.
I advise waiting for *unofficial* patches one day, but keep in mind it might be a long wait.

I can kinda understand that thinking since it's been over 5 months since last update so redoing the entire game everytime you want to replay some scenes is not ideal, no matter how short or good game is, sooner or later it will become tiresome
