It's not just "some" developers, it's almost everyone that publishes on Steam (in the last year) has said about the price and being equal, and cannot be less. So, unless something has changed in the last year.
I still maintain, just like MissFortune, that they are mistaken. It is likely not intentional, since the legal stuff can be frightening and complicated, but noone that says this ever managed to quote any part of the steam ToS, Partern Agreement or Distribution Agreement that requires this, not even anonymously. Also it would not be legal. All "Most Favoured Nation" agreements are usually quickly put down in court (see e.g. the practice booking.com had in the past. At least for the EU they have been forbidden to do this).

Part of this misunderstanding is the issue with the EPIC / Sweeny frivolous lawsuit that put out lies / deceptive statements to this effect (without even knowing the details just stipulating that there might be some NDAed agreements or "secret contracts" that require this) and David Rosen from Wolfire, who blantantly lied about this. It is really annoying how that shit sticks after it has been thrown and devs do things based on these lies that have no merrit. See for example this link for some more details and links to articles:

**Edit**

I would also like a source on this statement, because I am nearly 100% certain there isn't one:

and from Steam.

can't you just get around this whole thing with permanent sales?

I don't really understand the question? If you sell the keys on another site for a price that is a sales price (say 50% off), then the expectation is that a similar sales price is also offered on steam at some point and for a similar duration. So I would say no, and argue that I would not try that as a dev. This could get you banned from steam ...

To be on the safe side I would always see to it that the average price over the year is roughly the same on Steam and on all places where a key ins included with the sale. This doesn't mean that there can't be points in time where they differ, and in fact there is ample evidence that this is often the case for many games. Just check isthereanydeal.com for a game that is e.g. on GreenManGaming (who usually have steam keys) and on Steam and check the price history.

Example: Doom 2016

In fact this shows that Steam seem to be quite lenient with the pricing policy here and you can even sell it for a lower price somewhere else for quite some time. But note, that there is always also Steam sales at those lowest price points.

Trans. Futa is much too sci-fi for a story like this.

Looking forward to the Update for the Compressed version. 7+ gb is a bit much.
Small compared to some, though.

Episode 5 will likely be the last for Season 1. So, file size should get a bit more reasonable assuming the base game is installed.

Thank you for the response, but 7 GB is 7 GB. Size is an issue for me. Not with the game, but with availability in my HDD.
