I'm curious, why wouldn't you buy a stroke on Steam? Are you afraid that your friends will find out that you jerk off to a 3D character?
lol no i dont give a fuck and you can deactive it in privacy settings anyway

its just dumb to buy games on steam when you can buy them otherwise and own them for real yourself. And steam versions of avns always lag behind anyway (not in this case apparently).

But avns arent on steam where im from anyway

Well, all the AVNS I've played and that are on Steam, whether full or still in development, are the same as on Patreon, at most the only difference is the music due to copyright issues, but everyone does what they think is best. I can't support monthly and I think that buying on Steam is a support for both the developer and the artists.

Regarding whether or not it's stupid to buy a game on Steam, it's up to each person. If I have the money at the moment, I'll buy it and fuck the world.

AVN's aren't allowed on Steam in Germany where Krytax is from so it's a moot point anyway.

Also, it's not unusual for VN's to lag behind on Steam, some Dev's only release updates on Steam in bigger chunks than on Patreon.

I still haven't caught up with all the content, but I have to say I am liking Kara a lot, wasn't sure at first when we meet her, but she seems someone that kinda compliments our MC.

Shit. Have you got a discord going? Where do I find the link please?
I have an account, no page up yet. Been busy getting Episode 3 out. Should have it going once I finish the character page for Episode 3.5 (which is about half done for the female characters.).

Ah I see. I was all excited but it's just on another server. NVM then I'll keep waiting. Thanks for being up at weird o'clock, and for making a great game.

Most developers do not do public releases once it hits Steam due to the fact that Steam wants the price to be the same on all store fronts. I think there is even some confusion whether a public release is actually allowed once it hits Steam. Most developers with games on Steam will do a public but it's sometimes a few updates behind the Steam version.
Just to avoid that this false rumor spreads further, even though MissFortune already dispelled it: This is not true. Steam (or Valve for that matter) does *not* require anything with regards to pricing on other storefronts. The only thing they require is that *if you sell Steam keys* (or they come included with another sale) you do not sell *those keys* below the usual asking price on Steam. Though this also does not have to be at the same time. E.g. you are allowed to sell on Itch for 10$ regularly and have a 5$ (50% off) discount for a time, if you also have a regular asking price of 10$ for the game on Steam and *also* sometimes (not necessarily at the very same time) offer that discount on Steam. Versions on other Storefronts that do not come with a Steam Key are not subject to any such requirements by Valve.

They just don't want you to be unfair to them. That is all they request and this sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Random though, but this Harem is going to be quite crazy. The love dynamic will be very interesting that’s for sure. We have bookworms, a hot MILF (maybe more of them?), a stalker, a cheerleader, a latina chihuahua, a ”roommate” who is mad at us, a tattooed nympho, a trans-girl, and I think a BI couple? IDK if we have more girls or even less, but this is quite a lineup!

It isn't false, as other developers have said this directly and from Steam.

All Valve cares about is that you aren't selling their keys cheaper somewhere else. Itch.io, for example. Though, in almost all cases, prices are going to be the same everywhere.

They have zero legal right to control your prices on other stores.

If that was true, they would go after all the "CD Key" sites....

Also

And just a reminder, if you're on a tier below just an "example" tier, you won’t have access here to the full release because Steam doesn’t allow the game to be priced lower than theirs.
There are many developers that have said the exact same thing, and also the reason they stopped doing public releases.

Those are third party sellers buying keys in regions where the cost allows them to resell for profit, not the developer/publisher selling keys for a fraction of what they sell on Steam..

Devs aren't selling those. It's usually those 'reviewers' who ask for 4 (or more) non-curator keys in return for a review that typically never comes.

From the private dev subforum, but I'm sure Droosk won't mind all that much. Droosk is certainly one of the more knowledgeable devs about the topic (and a big reason why so many AVNs are moving to Steam now):

So, the devs who are using that as a reason to not put out public releases are likely misunderstanding what's being said. Not that I blame them for it, Steam's legalese and vagueness make it fairly easy to do.

Or if I were looking at it more cynically, it'd be a reason for devs to no longer put out a free version and thus likely make more from people who want it (e.g. [redacted] being banned here, so players were forced to use SS to get the game, thus more money.) sooner instead of waiting for someone to leak it.

It's not just "some" developers, it's almost everyone that publishes on Steam (in the last year) has said about the price and being equal, and cannot be less. So, unless something has changed in the last year.

I'm not sure why people wouldn't want to be on Steam, besides I guess the 30% cut they keep, it seems stupid not to be since Steam doesn't care what content is there like Patreon does. You want incest, blackmail, rape? Sure....go ahead. Steam only cares about the imagery of "high school", sex in high school, which relates to underage and copyrighted content in someone's game. It seems they don't care about shovel ware and copy and paste games since there are tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and TONS of them. There are even games on Steam that are being sold by someone not the actual developer who made them, being stolen, and somehow still on Steam.

Telling you now, remove the part about that developer before 1, your comment is deleted, 2, you get warned by an overzealous mod. That dev cannot be discussed nor the game. That is why I removed it from your quote when I replied.
