Yeah, I often wish that somebody would be able to pick up abandoned games and bring them to completion. There are so many stellar ones that are abandoned :(
While i agree there are definitely some titles i wished got continued either with or without the original dev only problem i could see arise is the fact it wouldn't be the same game if someone else picked it up since only the original dev would really know how the story would go originally not to meantion there might be a legal thing since it would not be their creation

That's right. Whoever takes over the game will be a different game, a different style, a different atmosphere. Even the plot will inevitably change - another person will tell the same story in a different way. It's more likely to be a remake than a sequel. And from another developer's point of view, there will always be a sense of secondary importance, of the project not being theirs and the laurels not theirs. At least in part. Why take on someone else's project when you can do your own? So, sadly, abandoned projects in most cases face oblivion. Or reincarnation in the form of remakes.
I'm not talking about mindless fuckfests, those can be just as easily continued if you have assets.

because life is unfair

I wish I wasn't a dumbass and could actually learn to code. I have all day, every day to myself.
You'll be surprised how simple Renpy is, almost no programming knowledge is needed. Creating good renders and animations is difficult. And good storytelling too. If coding would be complicated this site would not be bursting with slag on Renpy.

You'd be surprised by how crap I am at programming :p

Remember those "teach yourself (programming language) in 24 hour" books?

I couldn't even get the printed examples to work :p

God only knows how I managed to get through my old I.T and I.C.T. courses when it came to programming - had to do Pascal and Visual Basic

Just scraped through those.

Ren'Py scripting is easier than Pascal (which i remember from school-days too) and Visual Basic lmao.
Take a look at The Question it's a complete Ren'Py game which comes as a tutorial with the SDK.

Edit: I hope it's okay to get off-topic in an abandoned game thread.

'Coding' is not the part of making these games that's difficult, I promise you almost anyone could learn to do that. The real barrier is the art and writing, most people can't do either of those.
Why is when someone says they can't do something because of whatever reason everyone tells them they can.

I've tried learning to code multiple times since I was a late teen at college..

That was 20 odd years ago.

Just trust me on this I am not and never will be a coder in any language.

This. I've also tried to learn to code a few times and just could not get the hang of it.

Does that mean you can do graphics and storytelling?

I can probably do the story telling.

As for the art.. I could probably learn to use rendering software or do the cheap get out of using AI art.

The last time I used any rendering software was back in the Pentium III and IV days lol

Well, i don't care as it's just a beginning. Everyone starts at some point, right?

Do you know how to use Excel? Well, Renpy is many times easier. You don't have to do any programming at all. Completely. If you create a kinetic novel, you don't have to bother at all, it's practically the same as writing text in Word. No offence, but you may just not want to, and make excuses. Just try it and you'll see for yourself.
In any case - in the creation of AVN plot and graphics (especially animation) is hundreds of times more complicated than ‘code’. If you don't have problems with it, no one will ever believe you can't program Renpy.

I learned how to do basic excel
But nowt like what you're thinking of
And again, that was 20+ years ago

and no, not making excuses

What part of "I've tried multiple times" makes you think "this person is bs'ing"

I'm done, not replying further

Maybe some guys get frustrated very quickly when get prompted with error messages.

I guess he can't believe that you looked into the question script i linked before, as you have already basic knowledge of programming, even if its 20 years ago. Well, I didn't ride a car for 10 years but guess what, if i have the chance i get in and simply ride it.
