That is incorrect. It has an export function. It only uses the servers if you use his server to translate which is just bing for free users.
The correct answer is yes and no. Gemini isn't actually well designed for input/output of files. ChatGPT is better suited to this.

Or something like that. The extra line between are important to separate context from the previous line so nothing bleeds thru which is a common issue for services like google translate.
Like I said tho, gemini, as of currently, is ass at file interaction with outputs and chatGPT could probably do it instead without issue but it may require large batches due to how AI is designed. But it may be able to do it in one go if it runs it's own python like deep-translate but I'm not sure if they intigrated that stuff in any free models as I don't often mess with AI a great deal.
I personally use a python program with GUI I scrapped together that uses those exports, does what I spoke about, and instead it goes thru the lines doing a char count to 5K then breaks it into text files to make batches that I then merge back into the json using google translate's API. I think I added deepL but tbh I never used it as google works just fine when done correctly and don't use it quite often.
