It's likely the game will always require an internet connection because otherwise the chatbots wouldn't be able to connect to their response database. So they'd either have to remove the chatbots entirely, or you'd have to download the entire database to play offline, which isn't feasible.

I hate it as well, but it is what it is...

yes, it's planned, in development, but there is a difficulty with this so far: not everyone has a powerful laptop/PC. in search of a solution that could work even on weak machines
