Boooooo use subscribestar, patreon suuuuucks.
I am using both? and even boosty too.
I agree Subscribestar has slightly more lax rules, but its only very slightly. The people that keep acting like subscribestar is so much better clearly has never read the TOS of both of them. Though there is a lot more to the situation than you seem to understand. Lets make an easy to understand list for you, and anyone else wondering.
1. The lack of Loli content has nothing to do with patreon vs subscribestar. It is because I don't want to make that content, nothing against anyone that is into it. But to me it is to close to pedophilia content which I am super against on a personal level and will never make anything to do with that. My only regret with patreon's rules against minors in the story is that I had to remove Rudeus's children from the story. They were never going to be added as Romanceable characters anyways, but as side characters used in the battle system.
2. Patreon is actually a lot easier to use as a creator. Patreon allows me to remove my balance and add it directly to my paypal in literal seconds. With no minimum amount needed to withdraw. Where as subscribestar ONLY allows you to withdraw to an actual bank account (Which I do not have) and does not allow paypal as a withdraw method. Not only that it takes around 3 weeks to get your money. AND you can not withdraw until you have 100$ in your account first.
3. I had my subscribestar account approved since the Alpha 1 of this game launched. I only ever had 1 member on subscribestar. Who was there for one month then cancelled. Where as I have had consistently around 17 paid members on patreon, some come and go, others pay for one month to get the new update then cancel right after. Generally though I am making around 120$-200$ a month from my patreon. The fact that everyone is choosing to use patreon over subscribestar kinda tells you what the majority of people prefer right?
4. To even further comment on the state of subscribestar. I also have the game published on itch.io where I have a paid and free version, I set that up as soon as Alpha 2 launched, specifically for the people that just wanted to try an update without fully committing to a longer term subscription thing. I have made 50$ last month from itch.io while still only having the one subscriber on subscribestar. And also itch.io doesnt even need withdrawing money as it instantly transfers directly to paypal.
SO what I am trying to say is this. If enough people used subscribestar then I would be forced to open a bank account and use that, but as it is since there is no way for me to even access the money that is in there until I reach either 100 or 150$ in my account (Different sites say I need a different amount for a minimum) Why would I be pushing people to use it? Also lets look at analytics. I am still a very small creator there are not very many people that are viewing any of my pages at the moment, Hell there is more traction here than anywhere else, Itch.io usually gives around 200 views per day on both of my games pages combined. My patreon sees around 50 views a day, and my subscribestar sees 4 views per day.
BUT aside from all of that business side of things, I am currently worrying more about making a fun to play game, than stressing about money. Just pointing out the stats as you are not the first person to say "Patreon sucks use subscribestar" also not the first person to clearly see in my posted links subscribestar and patreon are both there... But yea the point is to make a fun game that also has porn, not just another porn game. I hope that makes sense. Think like The Witcher series right? Or Cyberpunk those are fun games that also happen to have nudity. I am aiming to make this a fun game that has a harem aspect to it. Which is why if you read through the comments on here you will notice I generally reply rather quickly to anyone and everyone that are talking about gameplay features they liked or disliked, or bugs they ran into, way faster than I reply to people that just want to see x scene, or x tag added.
Now I really hope none of that came off as condescending or rude because I did not mean for it to come off that way. I was just trying to state facts and give a well thought out logical response.
