I mean listen, I hate AI in all fields, EXCEPT translation.
The truth is that whilst there are many dedicated human translators out there who bless us peasants with top notch translations most of us don't even pay them for, there are THOUSANDS of titles out there released over decades of time who will never see any translations, countelss gems we won't get to enjoy because there simply aren't enough humans who have the times, means or want to translate them to english.
So if dev wanna mess with AI to create translation then I sure cheer them on, they might be shit now, but like AI in art, they won't be shit for long.

Ai in art ? Fuck that, but Ai in translations ? Yes please, think of all the games you and I will never get to read without it, well unless one of us has the dedication and time to spend hundreds of hrs learning japanesse.

Agree with this. But with the way it is now, translation has become so good it's only a matter of proofreading, contextualizing, and in rare cases where you can't translate something due to it being a slang or cultural reference. All it really needs is for someone who is dedicated enough to put time with with AI assisted translation help and someone who is relatively good with the english language. It's different when it's someone who uses MTL but couldn't even speak or write proper English, that the quality of the translation turns into dogsht. Luckily English is one of those languages where you can write sentences in dozens of ways and still retain it's context. It's different if it's just some random person copy and pasting and doing little to no proofreading. Saikey does a good job of this, but they get paid, have patreon, etc, pay people to proofread and still manage to have grammatical errors on the final paid uncensored releases.

A note about the translation: this isn't an "AI translation edited to make sense". I used AI translation aggregation, and every single line was submitted to various AI models, so I ain't relying on a unique source of truth. is there a better way to phrase it than "Edited AI MTL"?
