if the summary I read on the routes are accurate, the longest path isn't really netorare either, it is more of a misunderstanding on the husbands part.

During your second playthrough you have access to the wife's perspective. The conversations between the bull and wife seemed that the wife was in denial and using the "cuckold" part of the relationship as an excuse and the bull knew how she really felt. He even made an attempt to steal her away which she rejected, but at the same time didn't end the relationship with the bull. Her words kept saying that she was doing it because her husband liked it but her actions were incongruent, making it seem she was doing it because she was addicted to the sex she got from the bull. The last sex scene in the shower was absolutely not for the husband's benefit, but for hers.

I like these stories to feature open communication, some taboos, and lots of fun. It's a fantasy for sure, possibly very unrealistic, but so are our deeds in Call of Duty and The Elder Scrolls.

Yea, I think people who like that kind of content would be looking for the neotorare tag and those like yourself that wished to avoid that content would also be looking for the swinger tag and looking to avoid the netorare tag. The tags, like the wife in the game, are misleading as to the expectations.

There is a second path where the husband does "reclaim" the wife and it becomes more swinger content (you get a choice in the game on how you feel, if you pick "Jealous" then it is more swinger content and if you pick "Excited" then it is more hardcore NTR, but the scene that triggers it is still when you walk into the bull and your wife fucking in your living room which was an unprompted scene, before that she asked permission to see the bull every time she went to have sex with him). Even then, in both routes, it seems that the wife is intentionally allowing miscommunications to exist to get her own needs met, it's just you stand up for yourself on the "Jealous" path and you don't on the "Excited" path.

Always going to have a softspot for Atelier, because they're one of the few that make NTRS VNs (this one being one of the exceptions considering how the wife turns out) and have made really good ones in the past.

That said. They've basically been making the same game, with the same plot, same setup, same progression, same backgrounds, hell even some of the art is just traced over old scenes with different faces, for over a decade now. They've pretty much run out of character tropes they can use for the wife/gf as well. It's really time for them to move on from the "report" series and do something else.

Thank you for more nuance and explaining the different paths and their themes, especially since those two choices could just as well be interpreted in the opposite way. I don't need a handholding tutorial, but I wish choices were written in a way that the MC's choice/thoughts were also understand by the player. I might reconsider trying the game, and I'll keep your post in mind (but not in a perverted way, baka!).

The opening of the VN is the bull getting MC drunk to reveal his insecurities, the wife throwing the question on MC to which he can't really answer in the moment, and literally the next day she says "oh yeah I did it". Now sure you could interpret it differently, but I wouldn't really call it explicit permission or a healthy relationship LOL. This is 100% NTR/cuckold wearing the skin of a netorase plot.

Well. It looks like we just ran into a ONE TRUE BAD END (that's not in the VNDB of course -__-). And a guy like me who played almost every Atelier Sakura games on here, I just really HATE TRUE BAD END (never want to even attempt to play it). It lingers on my mind for hours (like I would imagine the outcome in multiple ways...my way. Whether good or bad for MC, FMC, etc.).

Is plot good? Imo, no not really. And MC...man imo, he's so fucking reluctant and naive (not the sexual kind). Perhaps even gullible.
Edit: I pretty much dropped it and not even doing FMC's perspective after getting the ending lol
