I have a strong suspicion that a lot of the things people don't like about the plot (looking at the reviews) are things that are key to as-yet-unrevealed plot points.
For instance the Hecate stuff strongly implies that she's using the MC for her own purposes, but we don't know why exactly a lot of bizarre shit has been happening.

Actually it's rather typical in many VN games I've played that have an MC that's kind of Duh!
But I still play them and like them and usually get better as the game goes on.
