I didn't experience this issue while doing the bug-fix, but if you place this file into your 'game' folder, hopefully it should fix it for you.

It would be a good idea yes. It shouldn't really be important unless you end up getting caught spying on one of the girls during episode 2, but there's no harm in having it there just in case.
