I really enjoyed this update and how the story has been unfolding. A shame that Sicae doesn't even feel any close to this (and there's no need to mention the rewrites that one had)

Do we need to start from scratch? I noticed that Ren'Py has updated from version 7.4.6 to 8.2.1. If the code isn't properly managed, it could mean that old save files won't be compatible with the new version, forcing us to start over.

No need. There wasn't much of a change in terms of technical codes. You're saves should still work.
