Her. One drive crashed completely, with all game assets and Unity/Daz assets. HS drive is still good, as is the current build.
IT rule #1: Backup, backup, backup!
And that on multiple drives (hardware) and cloud (software).

I agree. I am not sure of where Nii-chan lives, or the cost/availability of hardware. One backup drive was dedicated to the Honey Select dedicated drive, and was maxed out. I don't know why another backup drive wasn't used. Where I am from, this is a trivial cost. There's a copy of Nii-chan's "Disaster" post in the Sicae forum.

A 4TB SSD is like 200 - 300€ on Amazon. That's not that bad. I remember paying way more when they were new.
So, a drive like this should be very affordable, especially if your livelihood depend on the data.

I'm not familiar with the situation in detail but something like happening screams of negligence and compliancy.

I was very confused after reading the discord post and them saying it wasn't worth it (in regards to taking it to a recovery shop). IDK, i'd rather spend the 150 bucks to have them possibly recover things than having to spend countless hours redoing modded assets or w/e it was.

But the final chapter will probably run for like... another 3-4 years, so there's that. 3 if we decide to forget about Sicae and focus on this. :KEK:
are you really trying to compete with DrPinkCake on who can take longer to finish a story?:HideThePain:

can't believe i'll be almost 30, married and with kids by the time this one's also done...

Negligence has a huge part in it, and I'm not really blaming anyone but myself. Tbf, it was a fairly new drive. Not even a year yet.

For rebuilding the modding tool, it'll only take a couple of days at most. The data lost doesn't really matter if I can continue working or not. It was but a 4 year worth of asset collection. Still depressing AF. As for recovery, if it's only as cheap as $100. It ranges from $600-$2000 here. A lot of people wanted to contribute to the recovry, but I can't take it. Save that for something much, much important and critical.

WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!

That's insane! I was thinking that it will be 100$ to maybe 400$ in some cases, but never that much... it's crazy!:(

I mean, it's a good thing, yeah but I feel so sorry for you because it's way too much for a recovery.

I checked for fun here, it's 75$ for a normal one and can go for 300$ (or 1,500$ but it's for enterprises with a lot of computers).

I wish we could help you because you deserve it! :(

What's lost can eventually be rebuilt. I just have to stop staring at my ceiling and move on. I'm gonna take this MFking drive back to manufacturer. This shit is still under warranty.

Read the warranty info that came with the drive to see if it can cover the cost of recovery.

Well, lessons learned at the very least. To always keep an external backup just in case of stuff like this. Especially when it's a part of your income. (I didn't wanna say livelihood since I don't know if you've ever said you were working on this full time or not)
