But if the patches are made by other people, the dev has no control over them.
I take into account many games leaked here, they are born without any *wink wink* content of sort, only to have fan-made patches uploaded here.
Because, let's be real, unless you make the MC an orphan that is raised by family friends, all the "landlady", "landlord" and "roomate" shit is just semantic, everyone knows what they really mean.
I didn't say it makes sense, but that how they want to do it. They want to flag the games even with the unofficial patches.

Would they succeed? I don't know, maybe not, but it's what they want and for now, even if the dev has no control over it, devs can't sell their games. So even on site like here, it would probably do harm on the dev is someone made a patch and it's posted on the thread.

So, yeah, I totally understand why the devs need to change all the dialogue in the game and made them not related, like Sky being MC's childhood friend and Klara being the mother of Sky only.

Man, that would mean changing everything story-wise, because the whole plot make sense only if the MC is the son...... oh boy......

TL;DR:
MBML is facing heat due to increasing censorship on adult/sensitive games. It's not a matter of if it'll get hit, but when. Because of that, development focus is shifting entirely to MBML until Chapter 2 is finished, even if it takes years. Sicae is officially on pause with no set return date.

Dialogue edits are up, but Sky and Klara’s rewrites were a nightmare and left the dev mentally drained. Progress is ongoing (about halfway through the dialogue), with render work and outfit commissions in progress. Expect preview content in the next update.

TL;DR of the TL;DR:
Censorship is hitting hard. MBML is top priority. Sicae's on hold. Progress is slow but steady. Dev is exhausted but pushing through.

Hey, everyone.

This report is gonna cover a few key things: where the games currently stand, the global nonsense we're up against, and how we're planning to deal with it. And yeah… this one's gonna sting if you're team Sicae over MBML.

You probably already know where this is headed, so let's just rip the Band-Aid off.

The Issue
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard about the latest censorship storm sweeping through, hitting adult and “sensitive topic” games hard. And, well… MBML is kind of a lightning rod.
We've already addressed a handful of red flags in a previous announcement, but let's not kid ourselves, this game's crossed lines before. Some would even call it disturbing. We're fully aware that the control-happy watchdogs won't stop at one thing, and it's not a matter of if we'll get hit, but when.
Will the dust settle eventually? Probably. But how much will actually settle… and how much gets buried under it? That's the real question, and we've got zero guarantees.

How We're Dealing With It
As absurd as it might sound, I'm not ready to throw in the towel and cop out by calling Emma's solo ending the official ending. So here's the plan: I'm shifting all focus to MBML until Chapter 2 is fully complete. Until the game is finished.
It's still gonna take years—even with Sicae on pause—but the sooner I can wrap it up, the sooner I can breathe again. I'll do everything I can not to rush the arcs or emotional beats, but if something feels a little sped up... now you know why. It's a mental warzone up here.

The edited dialogue's been up for a few days now (check the latest public build). I managed to salvage the main story arcs...
But Sky and Klara's edits? Hot. Flaming. Garbage. Absolute dogwater. That BROKE me. I had high hopes going into those revisions. Asked for help. No one came. Just me. Stuck in bed for days, sulking and staring at the ceiling like a washed-up soap opera extra.
Am I doing better now? Not really. I still feel like crap. And with this looming over everything, not just the games, but my job too, my anxiety's shot through the roof.

What About Sicae?
It's officially on the back burner now. Unlike before, it no longer has a set window in the dev cycle. It's not dead—I'll probably revisit it when MBML burnout hits.
But let's be real: Sicae ain't exactly sunshine and rainbows either. It's got its own mess of heavy themes, and the last thing I need when trying to relax is more existential dread.

So yeah, if I ever post that I'm spiraling into a depressive episode... don't be surprised.

Anyway, quick progress report:
We're almost halfway through the dialogue. Some renders and animations are done, but not enough to call it real progress yet. I'm aiming to knock out 40% of those renders starting today.
Commissioned a few outfits for Chapter 2, but there's still a bunch I'll have to port myself, which I'll chip away at while rendering.

Next post will likely be previews, so keep your eyes peeled.

That's all for now.
Take care of yourselves. And as always, thanks for sticking around.

I won’t pretend I’m not saddened by everything happening with both MBML and Sicae. I had been holding out for an update on the latter, even if it would take some time, but now that possibility seems unlikely, its future also uncertain.

This whole situation is deeply troubling, especially the broader wave of censorship targeting adult games rather than just the much-criticized i-content. Other sensitive themes, such as all kinds of violence or even sexual content itself, are now increasingly at risk of being shut down at any moment, whether due to influence from pressure groups or decisions made by the platforms themselves.

We’re entering a dark period for our freedoms, our right to privacy, and our ability to enjoy the internet on our own terms. Censorship is targeting adult games. Governments are pushing for tighter control over access to pornographic content, sometimes using invasive or questionable methods. It’s unclear how far this erosion of digital freedom will go.

Maybe things will cool down and the current hysteria will fade, but the damage is already done. These kinds of events set dangerous precedents. And in the end, whether you're a player or a dev, we've all lost something, even if a few improvements might eventually follow.

I feel a lot of empathy and sadness for NiiChan, who’s clearly going through a difficult time. He might even be nearing burnout or facing an existential crisis, with his work, his creative freedom, and his mental well-being all taking a hit. When someone loses the joy of doing what they love, it’s incredibly painful to witness. I wish him strength and resilience through this trial.

All we can do is try to understand what he’s facing, give him space, and trust him to handle things in the way that’s best for him, to protect his games, secure his future, and preserve both his creative vision and his work.

Sicae just got an update back in June, if that's what you mean by an "update", so you'd be waiting quite a while for one regardless. If you just meant a development update... well, I guess at least NiiChan communicated what's going on for the foreseeable future. Shame it's come to this.

I was bringing up a few things about Sicae earlier; it was already scheduled to arrive long after MBML for its next update, and now the game is officially on hold, or maybe even worse later. Its future could be at risk, especially with everything happening lately: increasing censorship, shifting platform policies toward adult games, and sensitive or heavy themes like violence, blood, and so on; all of which could ultimately threaten its survival.

In short, the situation is pretty complex, confusing, constantly changing, and uncertain right now. We just have to wait and hope things get a bit better down the road... In short, the situation is pretty complex, confusing, and constantly changing right now, making the future uncertain.
