I’m definitely not trying to trash the game. The developer clearly put a lot of time and effort into it, respect for that. That said, you mentioned yourself that you haven’t played it, and that’s kind of the point. If there are no choices at all, then we’re not really playing. We’re just reading. At that point, the experience feels closer to a PDF than an actual game.I've not played this, but the reviews trash it because it's a kinetic novel. I find that strange. Do people not like kinetic novels?
Interactivity is what makes games fun for many of us, and choices, even small ones, give the player a sense of agency. Of course, I totally understand that branching paths are a huge amount of work, especially for a solo developer. So I don’t fault them for making it kinetic, but I can also see why some are disappointed.
