Yes, I installed it, went a long way, then closed it and exited, then when I wanted to open it back up, I encountered this problem.

Have you used unren or simila to unpack the script files? If so, reinstall the game as unren doesn't support the latest version of Renpy.

I tried downloading it again 3 times but the result was always the same. I didn't use Unren either.
There must be another problem. Why does the running game not open when I close it and open it again?

Try to delete the install directory and install the game again. Before you start the game you should also delete the persistent file in %AppData%\RenPy\MCR2_1 or %AppData%\RenPy\MCR2. As long as you don't delete the .save files, you won't lose you saves.

You can win with your base stats, but barely. Took me a couple of tries (after figuring out the rules).
I don't think it matters whether you win or lose (you can come back to try again I believe). If you can't win, get your boxing lessons first.

One thing you could check is whether the game isn't somehow still running in the background via Task Manager. If so, end the process, then try to start again.

Not a bad suggestion. Though for most Ren'Py games (I believe true for this game as well) your gallery unlocks (and sometimes other stuff) are stored in the persistent file, so you're gonna lose that.
