Imagine what a wonderful world we'd live in if it wasn't for politicians.
I have to disagree with you there.

The problem isn't politicians. Is the type of person that is attracted to politics. They fall in 2 major categories, the Idealists that lose themselves in fights they will never win, and the narcissists that are only in it for personal gain.

The problem is that Idealists rarely compromise and get thrown out fast, and the narcissists compromise way too much with no regards for anyone else but themselves.

In the end, nothing good ever comes from it. But the problem isn't politicians or politics, is the system of choosing the actors, rather than the script.

I'll not get into details.

Peace :(

Have to agree, especially when it's said by Norman, like that!
Not that I would've disagreed anyway. But Oldman is far more threatening. :ROFLMAO:

Made me wanna go & watch Leon & The Firm ('89 version) again.

Simply put, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely".
Even those who go into politics with the best, most altruistic, intentions, find themselves operating in a world that does not share them. So they have to fit in, or be separated anyway.
Altruistic intentions be damned.
I am not talking about altruism.

I am talking about a very different beast called "Service". Politics is a dirty business. No one comes out of it clean, if they look clean, either they didn't do anything at all, or, are hiding VERY bad things.

Remember "Yes Minister"? In between the gags, the truth was spoken quite plainly. Politics is necessary, because the world is what it is. Therefore we need politicians. The problem is how we are choosing them. Popularity contests clearly don't work, as it is being proven all over the world.

Peace :(

No, obviously not as you didn't mention it.
I did, as a reason for why some people may choose to go into politics.
They fall squarely into the "idealist" category that you did mention.

Also the follow on series, "Yes, Prime Minister". Both excellent shows. (y)

Absolutely agree. I never once said that it wasn't needed, or necessary.
Also agree that the X-Factor type choosing is fundamentally flawed.
It should be about competency, not popularity.

People should have to take an IQ test, before they get the right to vote.
See Idiocracy for why. These morons are the majority, now.

You crazy ? People will start blaming AVN developers for their own shortcomings, failures, and misstakes ....:eek::eek::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
What a beautiful dream. The world without politics would be much better. And without religion. These are the two main reasons for disagreement between people.
I'll ask to include NTR Fundis into that nice dream....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
