For the future Moderator, yes, I am aware that you MUST delete this, but it had to be said.Tlaero told me of a time when she and Mortze were having a conversation in one of their game threads, about the game, and they got their messages deleted for being "off-topic."
I've gotten deleted a few times for "NTR shit," usually when I talk about the specific Japanese definition of Netorare as compared to the extremely broad NTR definition here.
I've been an Admin and Moderator of enough forums, either professionally or as a Hobby, to know that the role of a Moderator is a really fucked up one. Rarely do they get thanks for their work, either from users or from the Admins.
Following rules blindly or exert their own judgement is mostly left to their character or, and I'm very sorry to say this, to their emotional state at the time. They are ONLY humans. Subjected to emotional distress, stressful factors, yes, and even lapses of judgement.
They provide a very necessary service. I've been in and witnessed what 4Chan like forums can and will become. Is it possible to do it without failing here and there? Is it possible to take at the same time a humanist role and a rule oriented role? No to both. You'll be overzealous at times, you'll be too forgiving in others (leading to abuses later). You'll be damned if you do and damned if you don't.
One thing can never happen, their authority can never be challenged. If it is, we all lose.
If you MUST discuss their decisions, open a ticket, don't do it in Public. But, apply some empathy, and remember that you aren't the only user.
Peace
