Debbie and the heels: She's a bit socially awkward. And she's making a transition from dressing up exclusively in jeans, oversized t-shirts, and sneakers to something more feminine. Meeting Maddie and Kim can be a "bad" influence, and she is sacrificing comfort for looks. She heard "Christmas party" and, obviously, overdressed. Who goes to the beach in heels???That's why Meemaw and Kate (the shortest girls) are in the same picture, for comparison.

Realised/realized and similar words: IIRC (I'm at work right now and don't have access to the files), the only one who uses the British spelling for "realised" is Saira. And it's on purpose because she's Indian. She will also use Mummy (for Mommy, not the Egyptian thing), flavour, and other similar things.

Remember Emma and Lisa are the "visual artists" in the family. She was involved in taking the picture. And repeated it multiple times when there are so many people (someone shows up blinking, with a weird smile, etc. And there are 18 girls there, no one will accept being the only one not looking nice). It also has to do with Lisa accepting that image as the "family photo" instead of asking to repeat it once again. She's becoming comfortable enough to not be "perfect" in a picture and accepting it for the sake of the group.
Why that pose? What does she lack in her head? Exactly, the Santa hat. She was literally going to jump to get her hat when the camera shot.
