America has never had an opportunity for anyone on the left, to actually try and run things, our left most party is at best centrist by European standards, so yeah, here woke = egalitarian, unless you're a chowder head. Even in the parts of the Americas that are outside of the US, there's been almost no occurrence of a leftist government that wasn't also having to deal with covert and overt opposition from their significantly more powerful northern neighbor... since we've had a fear boner for socialism since our inception basically... which makes sense in a country that established itself on the basis of landed gentry not wanting to pay taxes.
