Boy, what an ignorant response. I was quite clear in what i said. I specifically DID NOT want to be a jerk. I don't have to be into her to not be a jerk. There should always be a middle way. As you can see from the screenshot i shared in my previous post, a middle way was not offered. Since my "ignorant" response made it clear that you know a LOT more than me about this game, the underlying philosophy that drives it, I thank you.

The middle way you asked for doesn't exist because that decision is meant to be divisive. You have a choice of being the jerk you've always dreamed to be, or a friendly and decent person that is showing new acquaintances that they can trust him.

That is not enough? You wanted a third way, to be consequences free, that wouldn't push you towards being friendly and respectful... Because you can only be kind and show respect when you are attracted to the person? WOW. And I'm the ignorant?

In case this didn't make itself clear from the get go, My Dorm is unapologetically a Harem game, not based on Dominance, but on Kindness. This means that players will ALWAYS be herded to the Full Harem. It is however possible to go and have any number of LI's, including Zero.

It is weird to see you complain about being called out for wanting to get consequences free options on a rather important issue, and to frame the non-existance of those options as a punishment. You didn't want to be a jerk? There was an option for that. Why does it sound that that is a punishment? Because in that option you have to be kind and gain friendship points with someone you aren't attracted to... something that you consider punishment. Clearly something that someone that doesn't want to be a jerk wants...

In theory, yes.

In practice most threads longer than a few pages are a vipers nest of trolls and (occasionally overzealous ) ardent fans ready to throw hands at the merest soupçon of trollery. Ok, I'm a bit into season 2 now, meeting Aaron for the first time, and I definitely somehow missed something along the way. The MC just responded to Aaron, confirming that he was aware that his mom was really dead and I for sure never read that anywhere! There have been a few other conversation snippets where the MC seemed to imply they had knowledge I wasn't sure of, and just chalked it up to me misunderstanding the intent, but this one for sure doesn't make sense. I remember the encrypted email from Jamaal, and the 2 conversations MC has had with him about it. Then of course there was the altercation where they tried to make you sign over your shares. A few interactions with Amanda and Eva, though they don't reveal much of anything. So, I can't imagine where all this additional information supposedly came from. Does anyone recall where this extra clarity came from?

Hmm, I've gone back to the main menu, but i'm not seeing anything like that. I've also poked around in the settings menus to see if its there. I see now, I've misunderstood things. I didn't realize that while the mod was no longer necessary, the family patch was still required. Ooph, i'll have quite a bit of skipping forward to do to get back to that conversation. Lol.

I figured it out. Weird windows quirk, even though file extensions were on and all the other files looked normal, my patch file was showing up in the folder was patch.txt when it fact it was actually patch.txt.txt which was only visible after you open it.

I know you are joking, but it works with a file called "family", "patch", or "patched". Accepted extensions for those filenames are ".", ".rpy", ".rpyc", or ".txt".

Jamal only shows up if you are trying to start a game on Season 3.

If you played Season 2 to the END and saved there, just LOAD that save on Season 3. If you didn't play Season 2 until the END, then do so, BEFORE you try Season 3.

Sorry for the slight amount of comment necromancy (not too bad, just a few weeks...), but I'm tired of digging through old comments.

I'm finishing Season 2 right now and will DL Season 3 tonight or tomorrow. It doesn't appear that you have to do a special "conversion" or "porting" to open Season 2 saves in Season 3, and your comment here suggests that may be true, but I just want to confirm that before I start doing file management - gotta get that 17 or 18Gb off the laptop and onto the external, but don't want to do it until I'm sure what I'm doing will allow me to just install Season 3 and keep going.

Don't think it's a "windows quirk" despite my deep and abiding love of blaming all manner of things on Microsoft and their accursed OS. Usually this just happens when a user (like me many a time) left-clicks a link to an attached .rpy file named "anything.txt" and then chooses SaveAs while viewing the text contents of the file displayed as text in the browser. Better practice is to always hover over links to attached files to first determine the file type before clicking, and right-clicking and choosing SaveLinkAs for any file types that your browser will open by default instead of starting a DL (like .txt, .rpy, etc.). Or simply change your default browser action for .txt and .rpy extensions to DL or to at least prompt you by asking each time.

(Assuming the patch file was DL-ed from another site because here on F95 the link is to a "patch.rpy" file inside an archive,)

That's what I was thinking. The way skip works in this VN, I'm being even more careful to not go past a certain point.

and save there, just for safety can also have save few cgs before that. that usually works for updates with most games and you dont have to load old version to find save that works.
