I recently had to reset my entire computer after changing hardware, and like an idiot, i didn't back up my data. Since the new update called for a new game, i just started from scratch. The game detects that i've played through it, but for some reason, my choices are all restricted. WTH is going on???

I remember walkthrough mode being weird. That might be what you're seeing.
In walkthrough mode you see the regular choices as grey-ed out unclickable options, and extra choices with green telling you the good choice.
In non-walkthrough mode you still see the green walkthrough mode choices, but they are now half grey, and unclickable, and the regular choices are now white and clickable.

If you didn't "backup your data", then it's somehow detecting the persistent file that Ren'Py projects usually leave in a seperate location along with another copy of your saves, on C: drive.

Whilst it does say start a new game, if you played the previous version then most likely those saves would still work.
Most people's did, but some still had to start over.

I figured out what the problem was; for some reason, the game is providing the "Inside" choice twice. Don't know what that is all about???

It's the Walkthrough Mode.

Instead of just adding the green highlight + description, it adds the option again with that and doesn't replace the normal option that just gets greyed out and become unselectable.

People mentioned walkthrough mode already in regards to this game.
But aside from that I wanted to also mention that Renpy games automatically backup your saves.
They save everything in both
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\RenPy
and
\Gamename\Game\Saves\
and if it finds both it will compare the timestamps on the duplicate files and go with the newer one

He said "reset". which refers to a windows process where windows is reinstalled without wiping out your data. unless you opt to wipe it intentionally.

It is also possible to have multiple SSD/HDD setup. with games on D:.
So that the saves are both on D and C.

well since no game data it implies that hdd/ssd was wiped 1 way or other.

i have games on other disc and os on other.

Except the game's aware of at least already read text - "The game detects that I've played through it".
That wouldn't happen with a complete reinstall of Windows, since there wouldn't be any game files of any sort outside of the directory the game's running from.

This is why you should do patches for this type of content. At least that way you can at least try to argue that it is fan made.

Didn't this game has the option to select the relationship on the beginning? I wonder why this work for some games and not for others.

only had naming option. some devs don't want incest so no setting relationships and some just don't care and some just make it obvious that it's incest w/o telling it directly.

It unfortunately comes down to the person doing the review of the game.

Either Patreon is getting more strict about this topic or they found a reviewer that is more strict as it seems to be the theme of a lot of games lately coming under review.

Something really changed, I remember seeing games going into review for up to 2 months before but now they just get banned overnight.

I saw the first dev being banned on October (but he got his page back last week) and now I found another dev was banned last week (the one from business of loving) I wonder how many were banned in this meantime...

Time for people to start moving to SS. At this point if you don't have a SS backup account you're playing with fire. Patreon is not a good platform for anyone trying to make adult games.

I feel like it's not because of the patches. There are way bigger games with incest patches that probably get reported daily and they don't seem to have issues. The examples I've seen, the devs are blantantly breaking the rules. In this case you just needed to enter a code to activate incest content, so the version they were posting had content that was against patreon's tos. In savior's case it was because it has rape, midnight paradise probably because it also had rape. This are things that have been against tos for a long time now.

in those 2 games i didn't see any rape btw
