Gotta say I was hoping when I saw this that all the RPGM "walking" around was completely removed, not just changed to destination hotspots.

I did not mean literally copy and paste. I meant to take an idea someone else had a 1000's of hours of work and dummy it down and not even bother to change or make things better. It is an insult to the developer, At the least do not use the rpg maps, LOL it looks silly and shows just how lazy you are. Have some respect for others work and the time it took to complete the original not just slop something in a Ren'py hodge podge <--- even though we all know how HARD Ren'py is when it comes to adding content..

Newbie question @selectivepaperclip : since the original RPGM file structure is retained in the rpgmdata folder, would it be possible for us to apply the gallery/scene replay mod to your remake?
EDIT: went ahead and gave it a try. The patch did add the gallery item to the game. "i" for inventory didn't work though.

Yeah, final game version. As per OP selectivepaperclip did a successful testrun through the remake front to back
selectivepaperclip likes to work on engines, translating content from one engine to another. He's not trying to steal ideas or be lazy. He likes the challenge of porting from bad engines to better ones, which has the side effect of giving people options to play games in better engines. You can always play the original game in the original engine if you want, but don't criticize him when you have no idea what you're talking about or why he does what he does.
Is there a save from the end of the last version? I have deleted my game folder from the last time I played this but I remember the game vividly.

Who is to say what is the good or bad engine is. The original developer chose to make it in his engine because of what he wanted the game to become. Is a shame that folks think they can just change someones game at a whim. I did the same thing paperclip did but i kept the developers same engine, got his permission and blessing etc before i did any work at all. To me it is in bad taste to just change someone elses work. Is like have a preference of a Chevy, Ford or Dodge auto. They all have downfalls but they each have their unique style, feel and drive.

Meh, the whole point of renpy is not have to walk around...
I apologize for how i sy=tated what i felt. It is just that i know the hours set in front of the screen typing and building and the thought of someone just taking my effort and changing it from what i had envisioned would just hurt. I meant no ill will i just felt frustrated and it seems so common place these days to just change others work on a whim. Even if it is a improvement it does not matter. It is someones hard work that you are changing. So i apologize for stating my feelings but i do not regret expressing them.
