I have said much the same previously in this thread. Vivian thought to herself that it had been a quite a while since she wore that sexy nightgown for Hutch (had to dig for it in the drawer to find it). Then there's also the fact that Hutch had wanted to try anal sex with her for a long time.
Why was Vivian not putting more effort into sexually exciting her husband? Perhaps his performance would have been better if she had tried harder (like the "tiger" he was the last time she did). And why did it take her feeling guilty about having sex with another man to motivate her enough to offer these things to Hutch? Then of course when she does, Hutch isn't in the mood to make love to his wife after just having witnessed and overheard her repeatedly (and eventually eagerly) giving herself to his boss, in addition to her sharing private info that was degrading to him in the context in which it was shared (about him having to sometimes take a blue pill). At the boss' home, she defended Hutch wholeheartedly when Christian criticized him, but then in the restroom, she only defended him halfheartedly in an almost backhanded kind of way.
In thinking more about it, I believe there's a lot that Vivian is not owning up to in relation to herself and their marital satisfaction, which started long before she decided to sleep with her husband's boss. I know it's easy to hate on Hutch for not putting up more of a fight, but I continue to think that the least amount of guilt falls on him, even with his seeming inability to act in opposition to what's happening thus far. Ooooh, I would love to see the following aphorism come true: "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

Even when he was trying to sleep in the couch though tensed he trusted her cause till he heard noise and movement in the bedroom he didn't try to spy them I know it may seem like weak response but 20 years of trust/love doesn't go away in a moment and kitchen scene Vivian's talk can be interpreted as confusing to her husband though we know she was too willing. So he gave her enough time and space to come out clean or at-least give him a hint or something. But she kept lying till he brought that Christian wants her to work with him. Till now he was confused/angry why she did it & unsure how to handle it. Also cause Christian clearly blackmailed him with his work. It's in the BATHROOM scene he came to conclusion that she is doing it cause she wants it so he opened up their marriage, cause there is nothing else he could do to save his marriage. If she was an unwilling participant he may have quitted his job and tried to fix things in his marriage or finance. But because it's what she wants and need currently there is nothing he can do about it if he wants to keep his marriage.

Also, look at what Vivian chose to wear when she went to meet her husband's boss. Quite provocative for a school teacher. She may have thought his boss was some older guy and planned to try to get his attention in much the same way (showcasing her attractiveness) in convincing him to give her husband a chance, but then she was taken offguard when she actually met his boss, who was younger and more attractive to her than she had anticipated (which even caused her to fall over in shock...BACKFIRE!!!).
Yes, I agree this was the pivotal moment in Hutch realizing that Vivian was not just having sex with his boss to save his job, but was doing it in part because that's what she really wanted. When they talk later, she tries to convince Hutch that she only wants him (to which he says "want or need?"), and by that point he had seen and heard enough to know the truth.

I don't read these stories, as it's not my chosen genre for reading, and I never have the time to take a look at them! However, I did randomly read one that someone shared in the identification forum here, I think it was called something like "The Phonecall" - where a man gets a phonecall and it's just someone saying "I'm going to fuck your wife". I thought it was quite interesting. It was all from the husband's POV and he was gradually getting more suspicious of his wife as time went on. When she told him everything after leaving him, he realised that she'd been silently humiliating him - having her lover over for sex while the husband was at work and then serving him dinner that had her lover's cum mixed in; saying she was breathless on a phonecall because she was on the treadmill at the gym, when she was actually fucking; standing her husband up on a dinner date (he was sat waiting in a window seat at the restaurant, meanwhile she was watching him from the window of a hotel room across the street, while her lover fucked her) and stuff like that.
