Well, you basically asked what they had to lose that they would want to stop him going public for. Neither of us said there was any likelihood of it happening though. And they can't reveal anything about other wives/husbands, unless they know details. Otherwise it's just saying "we're not the only ones... but we don't know who the others are, or how many there are, or anything else!"

It's also only ever suggested by us players (unless I'm forgetting something from in game) that Christian might have had one or more of these dalliances with a client or the wife of a client. For all we know, they could all be wives from Christian's church, where he volunteers every other Sunday; or he meets them on an app or at a swingers club; or a whole host of other, non-work-related places.

Vivian out of everyone might have the most to lose. She is a teacher if it gets out what she has been doing she could lose her job. She would be labeled a whore by people around her. Kid would resent her cause of the repercussions he would suffer. Lose her husband. She would be hit on by every guy think she would be easy. Will say she would suffer way more than Christian.

If he let their son watch the footage from camera, they could explain to him they both were blackmailed and there was no better solution. The son could understand so no leverage for Christian. If he made the footage public, nobody cares except their son and again they can explain it to him. But maybe Vivian would prefer having sex with others to her son knowing about their deal. I don't know.

If I am not mistaken, Vivian has only a part time job as a teacher. Maybe things will degrade to the level that Hutch does not support her anymore. She looses her job and selling her body to Christian's clients remains as the only option how to stay afloat for a time being...

Explaining it doesn't take away the embarrassment they might feel, and the son probably won't just say "oh, there was a reason for it, so that's okay." And who says no one else cares? We know nothing about the size of their family, or their community of friends, then there's the professional community on both sides... I don't know about you, but if I was in Hutch's position as we left the end of Chapter 1, I wouldn't want anyone finding out what my wife was doing with my boss, and how I handled it (or didn't). And it's harder for me to put myself in Vivian's shoes, but I would suggest the exact same thing, she wouldn't want anyone to find out about it and start labelling her a whore, or whatever, or for other men to start coming up to her and propositioning her, since she's already dropping her knickers for someone else outside of the marriage...

It's not all about what other people think, as well. It's about what Hutch and Vivian think and specifically, how they think others will look at them, etc.

But, I'd say it's also one of those irrelevant ones, as I don't think it's going to come up in the game.

Ok, fair enough. I was considering what is worse, the embersment that the others know or the fact that Vivian would be willing to have sex with other people in order to avoid public shame. However, I also think they will not face this dilemma.
