I think it's where the writing is brilliant. It's still in the shadows.
At first, the plot seems simple, a decent housewife is falling for another man, and will fall into depravation because of this
passion, no matter the consequences for her family. But after the 2 chapters, the author gave us little clues that maybe all is not that simple. It's only my interpretation, but 2 discussions are important.
In chapter 1 between Hutch and Vivian about the "kitchen pass", 3 possibilities :
- Hutch is frightened to lose his job and let Vivian fuck Christian to keep it
- Hutch is so in love with her, so caring about her needs that he is willing to let her fuck Christian
- Hutch is so humiliated that he lets her fuck him, so that he has time and space to plot something against them
In chapter 2 between Vivian and Christian in the end about lies, 2 possibilities :
- Vivian is totally under the spell of Christian and she will be his plaything no matter his lies
- Vivian realized after the "rape" that Christian is only using her, and it's her that tells him what he wants to hear because she is plotting something
So all possibilities are open. And if some seem more likely to happen than others, we can't be sure what the next move will be. Brilliant writing !

Perhaps, I am injecting more nuance that doesn’t exist, but the whole conversation about lying seemed…off. After Christian doesn’t confirm or deny whether he is lying as Vivian walks out the door, she gives this little smile to herself. I thought either she is wholly smitten and loves feeling ”owned” by him or….she is playing him. After all, she now feels empowered. She has unleashed her sexuality. Could she now use that, maybe, against Christian? Guess we shall see.

I share your point of view, but I think Vivian is too fond of Christian at the moment to turn against him. I'm sure she will be his property, and she will adore that.

The facial expressions in this novel are impressive. Never seen something like that before. In some scenes, no need for dialogues, only a look at the face is enough to understand. When Vivian cums, I want to cum with her, when Hutch cries, I want to cry with him.

I'm just taking it as the stupid whore loves being "owned" by him, I remember SC at some point saying that he doesn't find Vivian to be a very interesting character or something like that. So unless he's actually a master at deception, looks like she IS just gonna be that simple and just enjoy being Christians property like the dumb fuck she is...

Vivian the center of the story for sure. Everything essentially revolves around her and creates the scenarios the others respond to. But I don't thinks she's really all that interesting, to be honest. Her motivates, while leading to sexy adventures, are not that complicated.

Another explanation for Hutch's behaviour would be that he's finding a way out. From the first night at boss's home, he knows his marriage is over. He disappeared a whole day to figure how to do it. But he wants to take Vivian to the cleaners, so he needs proof of her infidelity and moving his money to protect himself and find another job, another house. These things take time. He agrees to let her see Chrsitian to gather proofs more easily. In the chapter 2 i had the sense of someone was looking through the window durinng front yard sex.

But it may too logical, because SC Stories has shown us a lot of "fuck the logic" moments.
