To spell it out then: "There are multiple possible paths at the moment," - this means there are a lot of possibilities, the game can go in several different directions, i.e., at the moment, there are multiple possible paths (I even italicised it!), multiple paths the game could take - "but there will only be one path actually taken in the game" - this bit refers to the game being a kinetic novel, it means there are no choices, so in the game only one of those possible paths will be taken, and it will be selected by the dev, not the player.

I'm not trying to get additional paths in the game, I'm saying there are multiple directions it can take (regardless of what you think). The game is kinetic though, there are not going to be any choices, there are not going to be multiple paths actually in the game, and I have never suggested that there will be or should be. I really don't know how you can misunderstand so spectacularly. I knew it was a mistake, so back in the cage you go.

We read it here again and again how open it allegedly is - I'm not so sure of it myself. This may have to do with Tony's distinction between heart and reason - the heart options seem to be influenced by certain values and normative expectations I for example probably don't project onto the game and therefore I don't see them as possible options really (not only these but I would put a lot of revenge options in the same category: more hope than narrative logic)
2. Some seem to see this alleged openness as a valid measure for the narrative quality of a story - again I'lm not so sure. My main goal is not to be surprised at all costs. Rather I want to be convinced by the cogent developments of the characters. I want to see the how, not so much be startled by the what.

Kind of yes and kind of no. I want to be surprised now and then with a "I did not expect that!" but it has to also fit the narrative, when taken into context. For example, I absolutely was not expecting everything that happened with Sunshine and Rain, but even as I was thinking that, the way it was written, it absolutely made sense. It's good that the dev can keep us on our toes a bit and not lose us with events that feel too far out of the scope of the story.

It's my only real expectation in chapter 3 : to understand Hutch. So far, he is a mystery to me. By giving the pass to Vivian, he not only let her be in a sexual relationship with Christian, he opens the door to a sentimental relationship too : "He can take you places I can't", what he heard during the bathroom event, he seems to have accepted the fact that Christian is a "better man" (I hate this expression) for Vivian than him. What are his motivations ? His love for Vivian ? His will to use her to maintain their way of life ? An ultimate test ? I want to know.
What he will do, I don't really care, I just expect it will be coherent with the whole story so far.

"Better lover" perhaps, as I think that's all it boils down to - I read "take you places I can't" as acknowledging that Christian is better in the bedroom than Hutch is, can do things to her that Hutch can't/that Hutch can't make her feel the way Christian does. I don't remember any comparison being made outside of a sexual sense, off the top of my head (other than a couple of comments I think Christian made in private, belittling Hutch).
