I wouldn't say that. It could easily be the opposite - or something else altogether. Literally all he's said that's relevant about the ending, as far as I can remember, is that he thinks it's a fantastic ending, and that roughly half will like it and roughly half will be pissed off by it.

I have always felt this about porn games. What is the point of a story where I get to decide how it ends? That is the ultimate unreality. Since when do observers of life get to change anything? Is that a sort of playing god? What could a person possibly learn from a story like that?

Re-reading the dev's statements it seems, he carefully thought through the character of a kinetic novel and why and how he's doing it that way (and I completely agree with that). But perhaps he didn't think so much about how the huge intervals in releasing the different parts would affect the reception and the impact of the novel - to a degree which affects its narrative structure itself. People use to hint at the serialized novels of the old days, but they appeared at least weekly. From what we can observe now in the thread, the separation of the parts leads to overemphasis of the recent, to forgetting the past and to overanticipation of things which will never happen. The level of reflection drops considerably, the confusion rises, space opens up for fairy tales and personal projections.

Good point. In the world of video games, you have three choices: frequent updates, complex story, good graphics. Pick two.
4 months is actually better than average. Waiting a year and a half now for the next BaD. For me, by the time the next update comes around, I have often totally forgotten what the story was about. Unless it is a really good one like MHB.

And you don't get the "overemphasis of the recent, to forgetting the past and to overanticipation of things which will never happen." unless the story is a really good one. So good job SC.

That sounds something like what a troll would say, right? Not really in my experience.

My main theme is that it is about as likely that Boss will end up selling blowjobs in an alleyway is it is for Wife. I object to the fun some get out of projecting something like that for her, but not for Boss. If she wants it and deserves it, so does he, by the same logic.

I figger the story doesn't end until Wife gets control of her life, commits to somebody and means it.
or
She totally looses control and descends into degradation.

Which means that neither option can appear until the last chapter. Otherwise I don't see a grand finale. The third option is mediocre. Like most porn player driven games. Not what SC intends.

SC suggests that the character story arcs should be settling in pretty soon, if not yet, part 3. Right now, I don't see a way to know if Wife goes for Boss or Husband. Too soon for the definitive declaration regardless of clear game direction. We probably won't see that until near the end. Meanwhile, wife is struggling with her raging hormones. Even if some players are tired of seeing it.

I did notice that Wife tells Boss goodnight, but he does not respond until she asks him if he is still telling her what she needs to hear so she can have what she wants, which suggests that she wants him. Then he says goodnight princess, and she looks satisfied. The problem of removing Husband from her life looms. Maybe another chapter for that, one way or the other.

Sunshine tells her that she is in the prime of her sexual life (which would compare to a 15 yo boy maybe). That might not be a rl condition for a 45 yo woman, but SC offers that to us to help us make sense of the story. It doesn't seem to have helped for many of us. SC writes this story as if it were true.

And where do you get this information from? We're two out of five chapters in, and right now, anyone could be the villain.
