And it is clear to me, at least, that SC does not intend for players to see her that way. She is a sympathetic character. Her actions can be understood because SC shows us how. Boss's actions are simply pure villain.

SC shows us that she is still deserving of your hopes. At chapter 2, you really do not know where this is going. It is true that Wife finds herself having promiscuous impluses in chapter 2. But she does not act on them. There is no reason to assume she will. Except for those who want to hate.

At no point when visiting her son and meeting the twins did she think anything about sex or attraction, there were no impulses there for her to act upon. With the mechanic, she was shocked to see him sticking out of his shorts, and she was scrabbling to get away when she thought he was coming on to her. Again, no impulses there for her to act upon. Now, if she were to have had that meeting with the mechanic after Chapter 2 and the events contained within, she might have been in a different frame of mind and had some impulses that she might (or might not) have acted upon...
