I'm one who said that hutch is spineless and what I said is right.....
You said that sharing wife requires great strength, that is utter nonsense. If some one shares their wife means that they don't love their wife either they have special kink in swinging but in case of hutch he still loves his wife and clearly against your idea of sharing ....
I don't know if it's nonsense what I wrote.
Hutch loves his wife with all of his heart, he is able to forgive her the affair, sure he hates it, but his love is bigger than his hatred. (so it seems so far)
Some kind of strength is needed to endure ongoing cheating of his partner. (I guess many think it's weak or stupid)
The couple have a nice house, good income, a great past, maybe a rocky one and they came through.
Some people don't like to loose or to throw it all away, they hope for better times, thats why they are able to sacrifice things to keep other things intact or to gain them back again.
If it's worth it or smart is debatable, but it does not automatically mean that Hutch is weak, he may be just afraid of losing.
Maybe he comes out on top when the story ends, so far he is not the typical cuckold.
It depends on how the character progresses in the story before we can make a final verdict.
So I won't call him weak yet, it would be too close minded.
Edit: not every marriage ends because of an affair, many couples survive it and they decide to move along.
(so the cheated one must be weak all the time in your opinion?)
Normally it's a sign of strength to forgive the partner and to decide to hold on to the marriage.
