This game is definitely not dead. There's a Discord linked in the OP and all it takes is just a few seconds to go there and see the server is quite active and dev has been posting teasers in the #sneak-peeks channel.

if we are being real how many current 3d games are actually being done or close to it. Almost all of them are incomplete and also update once every 3-4 months, with some games updating for half a year, there's also some games that update every month just to add 1 single animation(cough cough siren cough cough), just let the dev cook broThe update cycle of this game is killing me

Yes, it is from what I played, hands down the single best KK game in terms of the renders and overall visual quality, but come onnnnn.
I last played it at 0.5.x and thought that I would wait until it is done as I don't have much time these days anyway, but man, what have I got myself into.
